In about 10 hours...

... I'll be back in Singapore! And G will be at the airport to pick me up! :)

I brilliantly forgot to pack my toothbrush - argh! Well at least I didn't forget my passport *makes a quick check* yup! it's there!

My air ticket on UA was booked on Zuji and paranoid me can't help but worry if my transaction is legit and indeed a seat has been reserved for me. I tried calling customer service to double confirm but after being told by a very annoying recording msg (with a nasal Aussie accent - wtf?!) that 'your call is important to us' blah blah blah for about the 7th time, I gave up.

I'm having lunch alone at my desk now. My 'lovely' colleagues went out with another colleague from the HK office who is leaving the company. Don't even ask me if I wanna join lor. I know I don't belong - you guys send PRETTY clear messages when you guys get together and yak away in Cantonese - knowing VERY FUCKING WELL I don't understand. I mean, I can be at the same table with you during lunch but you don't really give a shit too right? I would love to give you all a taste of your medicine - but first, I'll need to learn a new language bah! And take a hint for goodness sake, the reason why I blast my hard rock music is coz I don't wanna hear all of you yakking away. Thankfully Jolly was in the office and I asked her to call up the restaurant and order my lunch for me. If not - I'm fuckin screwed.

I CAN'T WAIT TO GO HOME. I am so fucking sick of HK!

Mainlanders

Was on the MTR train to work today and was in the same cabin as 4 elderly mainland chinese who were on their way to North Point (it's a MTR station - a stop before Quarry Bay where the office is - NOT the shopping mall at Yishun) and they, as all Mainland Chinese do, were talking at the top of their voice arguing whether they were heading the right direction, whether they've passed the station, analyzing the route map above the door (those who have taken the MTR in HK would know what I'm talking) and that got me thinking 'Why do they all talk so damn loudly?'

Someone (I don't remember who, sorry) once told me the reason why they talk that loudly is coz they come from a country of 1 billion people and it's too crowded and the only way they can get heard is to talk at the top of their voices. I think that's funny. Considering the volume of their voices, it seems ironic that most of their opinions hold so little weight. But I'm no political expert and would never claim to be.

Anyhow, back to mainlanders. I was at Sasa helping Cardin buy something and checking out something for Diana and the store is just swarming with mainlanders. They come in and ask the sales assistants about almost every single freaking product on the counters, at the TOP OF THEIR VOICES NO LESS......"WHAT IS THIS FOR?", "DO YOU HAVE 2 MORE OF THIS?" "HEY COME OVER HERE LOOK AT THIS!" U get the picture. And it's not even JUST the women, imagine those mainlander chinese men trying to sniff at perfume, analysing facial products, it's quite funny actually.

So how many of you ARE gonna come to HK post April to come help me retain my sanity? Apart from Kai who said Aug, SJ who said Aug too, my cousin Evelyn & sister Shirley (Aug too) - hang on, WHASSUP with Aug? Oh, summer sale... apparently that's really good.

Alright - gotta get back to work! I have this heavy metal music campaign to work on and I can't figure it out.

'Satan's Goat!' :P

Neighbour

I just spoke to my first neighbour! Came in through the ground floor and this ang moh guy opened the door - obviously a resident coz we need to key in the access code to get through the main door. We got into the lift and as always, the lift will stop on the first floor so that the security guard can ensure nobody gets in by accident. He commented regarding this and we got chatting for a bit in the lift. He's on the 17th floor and he's an American and he just moved in. Well we didn't actually become friends but hey I said hi to my first neighbour! The rest of the ppl on my floor (only 3 other units actually) are all Hongkies and though I've seen them before, I obviously never talked to them save a polite smile at the most. Woohoo! He looks a bit like Jian actually haha!

Alright - that's about it really.

I'm really full. My stomach is bloated with dinner! *Burrrrrp*

2 more days!

Tues, Wed... Thurs!

*Burp* Excuse the lack of updates. I logged onto blogger.com on Sunday with the intention of updating and realised that there isn't anything to update. I haven't done anything interesting, I haven't even done anything boring, I didn't do anything worth blogging. The most 'exciting' thing I did last Saturday was to go and watch 'Transamerica' with Cardin which we paid HK$76 each for. NBCB right, so damn expensive but it was worth it. Haven't seen a movie for ages liao and the whole popcorn/soft drink experience was another HK$50 tyvm.

After the movie, we went to LKF to meet one of Cardin's friend and her French friend for some Vietnamese food. Cardin brought Season 5 of "Sex & the City" and the two of us went back to my place to watch 6 episodes over a cuppa tea each. Brilliant - the VCD set cost less than our movie ticket lor! I shall go find somemore and stay at home to watch one weekend.

BUT, this weekend I'm coming home!

OMG I can't wait!

GettingoutofthisCantoshithole!

I'm coming back to SG next weekend!

The cheap UA deal was too sweet to resist. It only costs a mere S$248 (taxes inclusive!!!!) for a return flight so why not? I reckon it's a small price to pay to retain a shred of my sanity coz I am starting to lose my mind in this Cantoshithole liao!

I will be doing dinner with my folks on Friday (it's my Mommy’s birthday!) but will be catching up with friends on Sat or Sun. Addy will be back from KL too and I think we'll be able to have a belated birthday celebration for her! :) My return flight is 6.45am on Monday morning and I'm heading straight into the office after that!

OMG, I can’t wait to get out of this shitholewhereeveryonespeaksonlybloodyfuckingcantonese!

Argh!

I hate Cantonese! I hate everything about it! The intonations, the stupid way they say 'see thaw beh lee' instead of 'cao mei' for strawberries, the aggressive tones to the entire dialect and every single freakin thing about it!

I come into the office and hear my colleagues yakking away in Cantonese and obviously I don't understand most of it. And during lunch, they will talk amongst themselves and I won't be able to join in the conversation. Sometimes some of them will translate for me and let me know what they are talking about but as the main discussion is in Cantonese, I can hardly join in though I try sometimes but getting them to switch to English is not always easy.

I HATE CANTONESE! Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Cantonese people, I just hate the dialect - I just wish they can speak Mandarin or English or something else.

I think it's safe to say I will probably never feel comfortable enough in HK to want to make this my home.

I want to go home to 'lah's, 'leh's, 'lor's, 'hor's and 'can or not?'s.

This is funny!

This is super funny!
I remember all of us in BMG a few years back where we gathered at someone's computer and almost pissed ourselves laughing. The gal in the pigtails looked a bit like Sharon.

Go see!

13 April

I am so looking forward to that day coz that is the day G comes over to HK to visit for a glorious five full days :)

Have also just been reminded by Diana that it will also be our darling Logan's birthday that day. I think he turns 3! I miss that furball! Always begging to be taken out for a walk, and between his leash and a doggie treat, he always gets confused and could never decide which one he desires more.

Was flipping through HK magazine with Michele & Keith post-lunch just now at Pacific Coffee and saw a whole bunch of ads for cheap air fares. Tickets to Singapore on United Airlines start as low as HK$790! (that's like S$178 fyi) Argh! So tempted to go home! But I shall be a good gal and not resort to running home every time I miss my boyfriend/friends/family/dog.

Perhaps after G returns in April, I may consider going home to SG end May for a few days. Afterall I will be home for a full glorious week from 1 - 9 July for Eunice's wedding and annual leave is scarce. Sigh!

Ironing...

I've got nothing to say. My life is boring. I could tell you what I did this whole weekend but I don't see the point in boring you.

Let's just say I tried to tidy up the house and clean it. Not very successful - it is only LESS gross than before but still nothing to be proud of. I've got a huge stack of clothes to be ironed and since the weather is finally turning warm (it was 25 degrees yest!) I can finally wear my capris & skorts that have been neglected the past few months (and you so know I'm dying to wear em coz I'm vain like that)

I can feel the stack of clothes waiting almost disdainfully for me to sort them out so I shall.

I'd rather be reading or watching telly. Bah!

A series of events..

...not necessarily pertaining to me....

Rena (a SG friend whom I met in HK) has delivered her baby! She has been back in SG since CNY to get ready for the delivery and on 14 March, a 3.07kg baby Megan was born! She was just telling me about the birth process over MSN and by golly she says all mothers are the greatest coz it's just mindboggling the birth process. And how our mothers are even more amazing coz those were pre-epidural days. Pfffft...

On another note, G met up with my ex-boss Sharon for lunch yesterday! If any of you saw me online yest around lunchtime, you would have spotted my MSN nick. Haha! She just moved to China Square which is very near to his office and she wanted to bum PR tips off him and he was gonna give her more 'len xiao hua' and show her where the stationery shops/supermarkets were! Haha! Well from what I gather, both of them had a pretty good lunch and got on well what with the 'len xiao hua' and the cashierat the stationery shop giving them the 'are you both mad' looks no doubt!

Back to me - I have to attend a wedding dinner tonight. My HK colleague Jolly is getting married today and Cardin & Erica are off today from work as they are her 'jie mei'! I'm all alone in the mktg area today and attempting to listen to Sigur Ros and trying to like it. I think I need a few more listens to 'get' it but I'm also afraid these manic depressive tunes might just inspire me to grab a blade and slice it across my wrists!

Wrinkles

It must be retribution for me for pointing out G's wrinkles around his eyes.

I'm looking at the mirror and my own lines around my eyes seem more deep set than ever.

Are there no eye cream that will fix these fucking lines?!?!!?

I'm only 26.

I am horrified.

Sheesshhhh

I wrecked my new watch. :(

I'm supposed to wind it every morning so that it will move. Yesterday morning, I tried winding it and it wouldn't move! Well if I pushed it in and wound it with almost brute force, I can wind it but according to G, that's not the way it's supposed to be. I cannot bloody believe it. Only 2 weeks old and I've wrecked it. Gotta get it to the shop soon. Sigh.

---->>>> I FIXED IT! THE WATCH WORKS! :)

On a happier note, I was on my way to work when this ang moh lady stopped me and went 'Excuse me, do you mind me asking where you got your bag? It's gorgeous!" heh! This was my Prada bag and I would have happily given her the warehouse address if she wanted!

Perhaps it's time to check out the Prada warehouse again.... no, wait! No I can't! No more expensive things for me!

Locked out!

Michelle and my new boss Daniel is in HK. It is gonna be Aussie boss last day today and we are doing a farewell dinner with her tonight. So Michelle and I went to CWB to buy her a farewell gift (from Prada nonetheless!) and went to have dinner after that. I went home at about 10.30 and when I turned my key in the lock, the muthafucka wouldn't turn! Well it did turn but it wouldn't open! Tried and tried but no luck. Got really annoyed, and went downstairs to ask my security guy to come up and give it a shot as well. No can do! I was locked out of my fuckin house!! Went back downstairs with the security guy and he called the locksmith for me. It would cost me HK$500 for him to come and open it and I needed to wait for 30 min. This was almost 11pm.

The locksmith came at about 11.20 and proceeded to open my door for me and explained in Cantonese that the door doesn't close properly which is why the lock got jammed. (something to that effect, he was speaking in Cantonese and I could only understand very little!) He said he'll fix the 'balance' of the door and the hinges and change it to a better lock but it would cost me a grand total of HK$1,000. I'm like 'Aarrrgh! Fine! Just Do it!' and he started dismantling, unhinging, oiling, creaking, removing, re-installing my lock/hinges just so it would close properly. So now my door is finally okay and I hope I won't get locked out again! ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS MAH! (that's about S$220 fyi)

Taipei

Back from Taipei. Was there from Fri- Sun for Westlife. I am not sure what I feel about Taipei. On one hand, it's pretty damn rundown. The airport is shabbier than Bangkok's! I would have thought it would be a wee bit more modern, probably not as much as HK of coz but I certainly didn't expect it to be so rundown!

On the other hand, it was delightful to be able to speak Mandarin! And Taiwanese Mandarin sounds so much nicer than funny HKie accented ones or loud Mainland Chinese ones.... But the level of comprehension for English is definitely lower than HK, not that I minded terribly coz apparently my Mandarin ain't too bad! Went shopping with Merv where he bought his bloody Edwin jeans and while explaining to the shop owner what we wanted/didn't want, the shop owner said he thought we were locals but overseas educated coz we were jabbering with each other in English! Bwahahahhaha! Merv's Mandarin has also improved and I taught him how to say his hotel's name in Mandarin! Heh heh! And whenever we took a cab or ordered food, I'm the one reading the address/food menus. Go me! :P

There isn't much to see nor buy in Taipei but then again I reckon that's coz I didn't do my research on where to go. We went to the famous Xi Men Ding which is a popular shopping area (Merv bought his jeans there) and the Shi Lin Night Market where it was so bloody crowded! And I thought this sort of crowd can only possibly exist in HK! I didn't buy anything but we managed to eat the fried chicken thing (shiok! super kiam!!) and Taiwanese sausages as well their version of 'orh luah'.

Yeah oh so I met bloody Westlife for the 4th (or was it 5th) time again. Felt quite useless the first two days coz my boss was there doing the work (i.e. SCHMOOZING with the band *cue roll eyes*) and she left on Sunday where there was actual 'work' to be done i.e. regional interviews. So I worked the whole weekend and here I am back in the office again. I've got tons of bitching to do about this trip but I should get back to my emails! I'm so sleepy! I want my weekend!

Sore eye

Bloody hell, my right eye hurts like a bitch. I think something went in and cut it coz it sure as hell feels that way. I've rinsed it out but still it feels as though something is stuck in there. I've checked it out in the mirror and there's no eyelash or anything visible stuck on it! It's bloody annoying!

Was going to go to a party with Cardin tonight but with this eye, don't think so! Plus I have really bad hair today! Sticking out in all the wrong places. I just cut it last week and coloured it btw in case I forgot to update it. I think I was lying down on the couch last night with wet hair that's why it's gone all bloody crazy! Arrghhh!!

CAN WE PLEASE FAST FORWARD TO EASTER NOW?!

Glycine

My baby surprised me with a fantastic new watch! Thank you thank you thank you! :)

My strap looks a bit different - it's got stronger stitching and the strap slightly thicker. He has the one that is featured in the above pic. It's a mechanical watch so we have to wind it every morning to keep it going. So cool!

The Simpsons!

This is so cool! It's a 'Real-life' The Simpsons opening sequence!

Scaring myself

Watched The Grudge the other night on Star Movies... Tamade! I cannot watch scary movies anymore now that I live alone. Every time I look at a dark corner, I keep imagining that stupid creepy Japanese boy sitting there with his mouth open screaming. But that aside, the show was totally lame. It was scary at bits but overall The Ring (even the American version) is scarier. I think it's probably slightly scarier than the American version of 'Dark Water'. I don't dare to watch the Jap versions... afterall, after watching the Jap version of 'The Ring', I couldn't sleep the whole night till the sun came up the next morning. Bloody hell!

I also caught Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain and Family Stone over the weekend. Jarhead was not too bad...Jake was good in it! Brokeback was major yawn! Family Stone was lame - who can ever buy into a story plot like that?

Yay, the weekend is here!

It should be made mandatory that everyone in the world gets 3 days for weekends and 4 weekdays. I think it's only fair - you still work more than you R&R. Considering an average person starts working about 21 and retires at about 55 - 60, that's more than half their life devoted to WORKING (except if they live till past 80 then the ratio changes but never you mind that). That theory in point, 4 weekdays and 3 day weekends make absolute perfect sense to get a (more) balanced life, no? Vote me into power and I shall make that a reality!

Muahahahahah! I'm so full of shit sometimes I kill myself.

It's finally Friday and I've just about completely zoned out and not doing much work. Am concentrating to making to lunch time and then onwards to the end of the day!

Hooray!

I...

...Shall not mind small things that should not matter.
...Shall not take to heart people's low EQ and social awareness skills.
...Shall not harp on small things people do though they don't realise they are not being kind when they do it albeit sub-consciously.
...Shall not be mean to people and make snide remarks that will fly over the heads of the less intelligent.
...Shall be a much nicer person coz I believe in good karma!

I opened a door for an old man who was struggling to pull open the glass door on my way to work today. When I yanked it for him to walk through, he gave me a crooked, almost grateful smile and I can't help but beam as I bounced past him to get to the office! It feels nice to be nice!

Be damned people who don't know how to be nice! Bite me!

Heating

Two nights ago, when I was attempting to heat up my sheets, my heater died on me. I saw a bright light in the heater and 'pfffft', it died!

It was 10 bloody degrees last night and I was so freezing my arse off. Thankfully I still have my hair dryer and I thought that may come in useful. So in the middle of the night, I turned on my hair dryer and stuck it under my quilt with me and heated my sheets up. So cham I know! Tamade! It's already March and it's 9 frickin degrees today! Brrrrr!!!
