Caution!

This notice has been in my apartment lift ever since I moved in 2 1/2 years ago and me being me, of course I noticed it. Heck everytime I have visitors either staying over or popping by my apartment just to see it, THEY notice it too and most of them will take a picture of it. Since I will be moving out soon, I thought I should just share this - c'mon, it's too good not to share! Heh! So... ENJOY! ;)

Youth Olympics!

Look, I'm normally not super patriotic - in fact I can't even remember the last time I watched and gave a hoot about the National Day Parade. But when I watched Channel NewsAsia this morning which had special coverage on the bid of the Youth Olympics, I felt very caught up in it all and had a super keen interest to find out if Singapore would win the bid to host!

So when I came home at about 7plus, the first thing I did was to turn on CNA to find out the results and I saw the Prime Minister's speech and I am almost embarrassed to admit I kinda felt like bursting with pride! Perhaps one would not feel as patriotic if they have not seen or are living in another country. Most Singaporeans are patriotic - perhaps they don't realise it nor show it enough and granted, NDPs are mostly cheesy along with those songs. At the end of the CNA broadcast of PM Lee's speech, I felt like clapping at my TV - yes I am that weird sometimes. Then they decided to let Hady sing 'Stand Up for Singapore' and then CNA wisely cut away to the anchor at the studio heh heh. I guess they did not want to show that to foreign viewers!

Another piece of sensational news today is that Edison Chan is quitting showbiz. Frankly I don't understand the major fuss that everyone has given to this whole nude photo saga so....

YAY TO SINGAPORE HOSTING THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES IN 2010! :D

Only One...

I love this song! Yes I know it's terribly old by now and hardly hip but rock music makes me feel so old these days. I particularly like the chorus 'here I go... scream my lungs out to try to get to you.. You are My Only One. I let go but there's just no one who gets me like you do... you are my only, my only one...'

Happy Valentine's Day!

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing!

I am so frozen it's not funny. People who think it's fun to be in a cold country should be here right now. HK has been exceptionally cold for the past 3 weeks and this chilly weather is continuing right through the end of this week. Granted, it is not as bad as some parts of China but it got as cold as 8 degrees this morning and at Ngong Ping (where the Giant Buddha is on Lantau Island), the weather department recorded a record low of 0.8 degrees! WTF! Apparently heaters are also sold out in HK that people are even willing to buy flawed products coz there just isn't any more heaters left for them to buy in this entire country!

Since I managed to escape the cold weather for about 9 days (I was back for CNY, and SG weather, dare I say, was absolutely refreshing.), it was a shock to my system the first night I was back. Yes I'll even take a bit of rain and walk on muddy paths than to deal with this super cold weather!) The buildings here don't seem to have any insulation whatsoever and it feels colder at home sometimes than on the streets! The first night when I returned, I woke up in the middle of the night shivering.

Sadly this cold weather also means that people are more suspectible to falling ill. The local news reported that hospitals are running at near full capacity as the elderly checked in over the Lunar New Year period with chronic lung problem and flu-related disease no thanks to the unfriendly weather. I came back to the office and heard sniffling all around. One of my colleague came back to work yesterday but was in such bad shape again today she had to take the day off. Those who are slightly better, were at least considerate to wear a mask in their best efforts to try to work while not spreading the germs. I am freaking paranoid - in fact I am going to go pop some Vitamin C RIGHT NOW - and I am trying my best to stay warm as best as I can but I STILL FEEL COLD. :(

Anyway enough whinging. I had an enjoyable CNY, collected enough red packets, spent time with my parents on weekdays (when poor G was slogging away at work) and spent time with G on weekends and public holidays. We got each other belated anniversary gifts - he bought me Ferragamo Varinas which is the most gorgeous pair of shoes I have ever and probably ever own and something I would probably have never bought for myself - and I got him Bally shoes which luckily for me, were going at 40% off hehe! The boy is a hoot, he kept asking me if he could wear his new shoes. We bought both pairs of shoes the Sat before CNY so I asked him to wait till CNY Day 1 then we could 'premiere' our new shoes together. But he could hardly wait. He would ask me almost every day 'Baby can I wear my new shoes?" and I was like 'Wear on CNY Day 1 lah!' and he would look disappointed, not unlike a child disallowed to open his Christmas present before the big day. I relented eventually and he wore it on CNY eve. I swear he was practically glowing when we left the house that day. Heh.

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS! May you always be errr 'Qing Chun Mei Li' (youthful and pretty), and 'Shen Ti Jian Kang' (healthy body), 'Bu Bu Gao Sheng' (erm always improving yourself every step of the way) and, and... 'Gong Xi Fa Cai' (congratulations and get rich!) lah! Haha how do you like my translations?
