Whassssupppp!

Lo Lai (from our HK office, her real name is Nora but her colleagues nicknamed her Lo Lai and I like calling her that too coz it's funny) and me - quick pic with Wyclef Jean post his energetic 2 hour showcase at Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Brilliant guy - I met him before last year in Langkawi and despite his fame (for the clueless, he's from The Fugees... you know the song 'strumming my pain with his finger.... ONE TIME'), very down-to-earth and absolutely talented. He walked on his hands on the bar counter, played the guitar with his mouth (dun ask me how but he did), did some kungfu moves with a random Chinese dude from the crowd, played the drums, played the congas, free styled rap and managed to throw in Cantonese (Lei Ho Ma) and namedropped Jay Chou in... very impressive.Alright - how many females do you see in this picture? Correct answer is .....................3. Me (obviously!), the one in white in the foreground, and the one in grey in the middle. The rest of the 'sexy ladies' are........ men! Cannot tell right?!!!?? Ok, I think the one 2nd from the left looks quite manly, but the rest, for goodness sake, look more womanly than me! No, my colleagues and I did not go to a tranny show in Thailand - these 5 'sexy ladies' is a ladyboy pop group signed to our Thai office, called Venus Flytrap. They could very well be the Thai version of Spice Girls except they aren't really girls....

So over it

Currently at home waiting for 3pm to head out to meet my colleagues to go to the airport to pick up an artiste. Then we may have to go to dinner with the entourage as well as go shopping in Mong Kok. I know there are people out there who seems to think it's so cool to be able to 'hang out' with artistes, shop with them, eat with them but sometimes I just want to have my time to myself!! Boo! On the plus side, it just means that my meal is paid for by the company hurhur. Always have to look at the bright side of things ya know...

I keep making silly mistakes at work and I guess just subconsciously I am giving up on the job even though I have told myself I will try to bite down and at least finish up the year. There are a lot of things that when my boss 'shoots' me over email for overlooking or doing wrongly, I just look at my Blackberry with great disdain, and chuck it back in my bag and not even giving two shits about it. I used to lose sleep over work and heck, even have nightmares about it but I think I have perhaps managed to compartmentalize it? I don't know. In any case I have to focus for the next few months at least until I find another job to save me from this!

Got a new haircut last night and I kinda like it. A bit like a 'mushroom' head but with longer sides and I got red streaks. They weren't meant to be red, he told me 'orange' but I guess in any case, with daily wash, it will eventually fade to orange in a month's time and eventually blonde. I was the only customer at the salon as it had been raining insanely crazily (they put it 'black rain' - the heaviest type of rain you can get in HK) as well as Typhoon Signal 3. By the time I finished at the salon, it has stopped raining and I was disappointed as I was hoping the typhoon and rain continues and then the artiste doesn't come hurhur. I was VERY crushed when I woke up this morning and the sun was out full force. DRATS.

Shall go enjoy some TV before I go out...

E & T in HK

With Trish & Elene at Duran Duran. It rained. It was at an outdoor venue and the weather was fine that day until the band started the 2nd song. I felt drops on me and I wanted to burst out laughing coz it was very WTF... thankfully the rain stopped halfway through the show, giving us an opportunity to take pictures of ourselves since DD wasn't very attractive (and very very far away also)
We finished off the night with drinks at Yumla (in canto that means 'Drink Lah') My drink was great - lychee liqueur, white wine and elderflower syrup. I had 2 1/2. We wisely took the pictures before we started to look flushed. Post-drinks we bought kebabs home for supper heh heh.
Leisurely Sunday cruise on the 'Star' Ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui where we checked out the huge ass Louis Vuitton store that is a tourist attraction in itself. I love the 'Star' Ferry. Everytime I board the ferry, I hum this cheesy 80s Channel 8 drama series song in my head. It's the show about China immigrants coming to Singapore to make it good in the 1940s. It's called 'Wu Suo Nan Yang'. C'mon! You know which show I'm talking about! I don't even know how the song goes except for the 'Aaaah.... ahh ahh ahhh' bit in the intro and that's the bit that pops in my head everytime I board the ferry! Hahahahah!
The disgustingly huge LV store that were packed with mainlanders. Very nice store, you can smell the leather the moment you walk in. They had those bar stools for people to sit at while the LV staff bring you the LV bag/wallet/overpricedpieceofleather for you to see. There were plenty of LV clothes which cost on the average... SG1500 for a ugly pair of pants. There were also watches which were very fugly as well. Aiyah I think LV is quite obiang what with checks and monogrammes, and no I'm not being sour grapes about it. I do quite like the 'epi-leather' range, I especially like strumming my fingers on the lines like a guitar but how can one covet something so expensive yet so common? Me no get it. This LV store also boasts of a photo gallery by Chow Yun Fatt and we also checked out a huge photobook by this photographer (can't recall his name now) and the book costs, oh just about HK$30,000 (S$5800). That's a few LV speedys horkay.

Busy busy busy!

With the onslaught of visitors to Hong Kong and incredibly busy work days, I hardly can find energy and inspiration to blog. G visited two weekends ago and as usual we had great fun and went to Macau to visit a journo friend Su-Lin who brought us around. G & I went to our fave restaurant in Macau - Fernando's and had to wait with our jug of sangria for 1 hour before we got a table and were served one of the tastiest clams dish EVER and roasted suckling piglet! Will try to post pictures eventually...

G got a navy blue blazer tailor made here in HK - yes he's preppy that way - and it's at about half of the price he would have paid if he got it done in SG. The blazer was hand stitched and more impressively (to me coz I'm cheap thrill that way), it has a little name tag stitched inside the jacket 'Specially handmade for Mr Gary Gan'. I thought that was cool along with its silver buttons hee! Both of us also bought indigo jeans at Uniqlo (a store I will miss VERY much when I return to SG. Mu what?) that looks so good it can rival any designer gear! Mine was about S$38 and his was S$55 and we got the lengths altered FREE within an hour. The efficiency of HK is unrivaled I tell you. Eat that 'come and collect in 5 working days lah' Singapore shops!

He went back on Monday and I was just 'lonely' for 2 nights and Elene & Trish came to HK on Wed! They were here to shop up a storm and they did! They went to Macau on their own on Thursday since I had to work, and I took the afternoon off on Friday to bring them to Mong Kok to buy cheap stuff. We walked so much that our feet hurt and we were all whining how much we would love to soak our feet. Trish brilliantly suggested running my bathtub with warm water and we could all perch ourselves on the edge of the bathtub to soak it together. We did just that when we got back (I put in bath salts to enhance the experience) and our poor achy feet felt significantly better after a good 20 minute soak. We repeated that feat (hurhur) the next day when we went to Citygate Outlets to shop up a storm at Esprit Outlet and Elene even managed to score a pair of leather boots with cute ribbons at 70% off at the I.T outlet! Major score! We also went to the Duran Duran concert as I had extra tickets passed to me and the concert turned out better than we expected. We thought we would only enjoy 'Ordinary World' and 'Come Undone' (We were THRILLED when they sang these two songs coz we could sing it almost word for word...) but we also recognized other stuff from the 80s that I had no idea that I knew as well. At some point, it was like Mambo Retro Night heh heh! After the concert we headed to Lan Kwai Fong so that they could check it out and we had a few drinks at this club where we were joined by one of my friends and we had a good laugh even though the club had a police raid half way through. Lydia Sum's daughter + her ang moh boyfriend were in the same tiny club as us and she sat next to me and I didn't notice - Elene did coz she just read the issue of 8 Days that had an article on them. She had a brand new Bottega Veneta bag (which she showed off to a friend. The one she has, I reckon is at least S$4 - 5K) and was puffing at a cigarette. Didn't her mom just pass away about a month ago? What the.......Ah well.

All in all I think these two had a brilliant time - they did shop up a storm! They almost cleaned out Uniqlo (this shop rocks lah I tell you!), and H&M. They also bought bags and I was like egging them on 'buy lah, how much only...' Heh! I always feel very pleased when my guests have a great time shopping.

I wasn't planning to come back to SG until I make my big move back to SG in mid June but I have nothing planned for Labour Day weekend so I will be coming back, along with some of my winter stuff so the move in June will hopefully be less scary (yeah right)

Alright this post is pretty damn long and as usual, just kinda beating around the bush! It'll be an awful few weeks for work so I hope to bite down and get through everything okay. Towards the end of the month, I'll be having guests again though they will not be staying with me. G's parents will be visiting HK and I will meet them over the weekend to bring them to eat and all. I really don't know where else to take them apart from The Peak, yum cha and let them see my tiny apartment. Gotta think about it.

Gonna go to bed now. I haven't been getting comments on my blogs so I was thinking nobody probably reads it anymore. But it's quite nice and relaxing to relive those nice few days. Nighty!
