The passing of a loved one

My grandpa passed away this morning at 4.30am alone in the hospital. Received a text message from my younger sister first thing this morning when I opened my eyes to (as usual) hit the snooze button on my mobile phone. She told me to call home coz my mom's pretty upset. So I called home and got the lowdown- my grandpa was tellin my mom that he was ready to go and he was sure he was gonna go. My mom got the call from the hospital at 5am and immediately went to the hospital with her brothers and sisters. She said that I need not come home if air tickets were expensive. That was something my dad has mentioned to me earlier before I moved here coz we knew my grandparents aren't in good shape and not gonna be around for very long. Plus my grandpa has 14 children and over 30 grandchildren - I seriously don't think they are gonna miss my presence very much. I pondered about it for a while but of course checked out air tickets and bloody hell, no thanks to public holidays and the fact this is so last minute, they were all pretty expensive. But I reckon I will feel damn guilty if I don't go home and $$ is a small price to pay as compared to the guilt I will feel for the rest of my life.
