Touched down in Bangkok 1 hour later than scheduled coz the flight was delayed in HK. Bah! When I cleared customs and hopped into a limo to make my way to the hotel,I got stuck in infamous Bangkok traffic and as I am so not a morning person (I had to wake up at 6.30 am to catch my flight), I fell asleep! Reached hotel only after 1pm when my plane was supposed to have touched down at 11am lor. Yawn!
Had to check in asap to get some work done so no shopping nor relaxation for me! Jules was due to join me later that evening at 10pm and I had to meet the Thai team to run through the schedule as Franz's schedule *almost* clashed with Deus'. They brought me out for dinner and after that, I just suddenly developed a splitting headache. Came back to the room, skype-d a while with G until my headache became so damn intense and I had to take to the bed. Jules still hadn't arrived and it was past midnight! She did text me earlier to tell me that her flight was delayed. She finally arrived close to 1am and I went back to sleep. Woke up in the middle of the night to hear her snoring/snorting away. Poor gal has a very bad cold and major phlegm and guess who had to suffer? I almost couldn't get back to sleep - I wanted to cover her face with a pillow!
Woke up Sat morning and had to get to work! Popped over to Four Seasons with a Thai colleague to make sure the Oasis stuff is sorted out and came back to my hotel to get the Franz one started!
The Oasis press conference was amazing - I think everyone was intimidated by the band so much so that nobody dared to ask any questions! Plus Liam & Noel almost always had a smart-ass or super nonchalant reply to questions. The amazing thing is that the Oasis interviews ran like clockwork and in fact even finished slightly ahead of schedule! I must admit when I first saw Liam and Noel, I was like 'wow, Oasis!' and Liam crashed into me in his haste to leave the press conference room. He just looks like a very hairy looking monkey - what's up with all that excess facial hair?
The rock fest is a riot! Ian Brown was too mellow - almost boring! Franz rocked as always - they are a hard act to top honestly! I must admit I enjoyed them more here in BKK than in HK coz I get to party with Jules! In addition, we bumped into Linda, Sujin, Sharlene (from Lynda's wedding), SuperMario and a few other Singaporean pals!
Oasis - well I'm in two shoes about their performance honestly. The songs were awesome, they did some of my faves like 'Acquiesne' (sp?), 'The Masterplan' and the classics like 'Live Forever', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol', 'Champagne Supernova','What's the Story, Morning Glory' etc. They also did stuff from the new album of course but the gripe that I have is that they don't bother to talk to the audience in between the songs - there was dead air while their guitar techs changed their guitars for them. In fact, at one point, Liam sort of threw a bratty fit towards the end of a song and went 'fuck this is a waste of my time', knocked the mic off the stand and walked off! (he came back in the end) WTF indeed.
All in all - a pretty decent first day what with work going well and the awesome performances from Franz and Oasis. Snow Patrol tmrw! Well will also catch Placebo though I am not a fan at all. Will also head out shopping with Jules a bit and we will try to fit in massages/manicures/pedicures on Monday!
Toodles all! Muakz!
