Household

This probably sounds really gross but I've been putting off doing my laundry. Don't get me wrong, I always wash my worn clothes, putting them into the washing machine at least once every 3-4 days. It's the stuff I brought back from Singapore that I have not been able to wear that's been sitting in my suitcase, all crumpled up. When I finally got down to unpacking them, I just managed to transfer them from the suitcase to the.....floor. Crikey! I need to iron them - I thought I'd be able to get to wear them thinking it's almost March and could be turning warmer. No way! The weather dipped to 14 last night, and is 12 today and will be 10 degrees tomorrow! WTF I say.

Alright, what a pointless post. I'm just putting off working. *Yawn*

Him

Me: Eunice invited you to her church wedding.
Him: Really? That's very nice of her

A week later...

Him: Hey, do you know what's the dress code for Eunice's church wedding?
Me: I'm not sure, why?
Him: Oh... nothing...
Me: Don't tell me you are already planning your outfit for a July wedding?!
*pause*
Him: I'm just planning ahead what!
Me: 4 months ahead?!

Him : Can't talk. I literally got cement on my face. I'm using this clay mask and it smells, feels like cement.
Me: ....

Him: Yeah so I've got the whole range of the Kiehl's Blue Herbal facial products.
Me: I think you also really need some eye cream - the wrinkles around your eyes give away your age
Him: I also probably need hand cream - my hands look wrinkly.
Me: *snigger inside*

Hahahahahahhaha!

Another week

Weekend? What weekend? Having worked on Saturday, my weekend has been cut short to one day! But that day was put in good use - waking up early and going for breakfast with Merv & Susan, then starting to shop (which was hard coz the shops only opened at 12!) Nonetheless, Merv managed to buy a pair of jeans (his ONLY purchase this trip!) and Susan bought this Adidas jacket for a whopping HK$800! Phwoar! While we were at the Adidas store, who should walk in but Liam & Gem from Oasis? Merv's like 'in Singapore also bump into him, come HK also bump into him'. I'm like "coz you guys shop at the same places! haha!"

We went to some of the more 'expensive' stores coz there were certain brands that Merv was looking for. There was a huge I.T. store near Adidas and I bought the Baby Jane Cacharel shoes I've been eyeing pre-CNY! At 70% off, I got it at HK$330 from its original HK$1099! Bargain! I also got a olive green suede overcoat at a mere HK$148! I know I shouldn't be shopping but YOU try NOT shopping in HK when everywhere screams 'FINAL SALE! Up to 90% off!'!

Alright, my new boss is in town whole of this week so shall attempt to be more constructive. Toodles!

Slowly walking down the hall... faster than a cannonball

Yay! End of Oasis in Asia! They were much better at the HK show, and the interviews went well too albeit a bit later than expected but at least they all showed up! :P

Next up - Westlife in Taiwan. This would be my fourth time meeting the band. Haha! Ah well, like I really care or like they would even remember me.

Am dead beat, am going to bathe and then watch DVD with Merv who has very brilliantly hooked up my DVD player to TV (finally haha!)

T.F.G.I.F!

Alright - need to quickly update on Day 2 of BKK Rock Fest as per SJ's request.

Jules & I headed out for shopping at MBK and she had to leave in the afternoon to go reccee some sites in view of MAA in May. I bought contact lenses which I will attempt to try to wear and hopefully not blind myself when I remove em. This is probably my first BKK trip which I didn't buy too much stuff - bought two tops as well.

Got to the venue about 6plus and The Futureheads were playing. Not very good - so we chilled by the side, eating and having a drink. Maximo Park was up next and then it was Snow Patrol! Even though the crowd on Sat was bigger (13,000) and Sun only saw about 6,000ish, the vibe was better! Snow Patrol was cool! Two thumbs up! Then it was Placebo who performed probably the most energetic set after Franz but after about 30 minutes we got tired of bopping around and went to sit down.

More Oasis tomorrow night in HK! I hope they will be much better in HK than they were in BKK. Merv, Susan & Kelly are in HK today and Merv & Susan will be staying wtih me on Sat night and hopefully we can spend some time going shopping on Sunday! Yay! We going yum cha on Sat morning too! Oh I am also gonna be off to Taiwan for Westlife from 10 - 12 March! No time to do any sightseeing/shopping coz it's a jam packed weekend of work & promo! But I think I'll get to see the Lee Hom concert! Hooray!

Franz and the HK team

Sunday, February 19, 2006

In Bangkok with Oasis & Franz Ferdinand

Touched down in Bangkok 1 hour later than scheduled coz the flight was delayed in HK. Bah! When I cleared customs and hopped into a limo to make my way to the hotel,I got stuck in infamous Bangkok traffic and as I am so not a morning person (I had to wake up at 6.30 am to catch my flight), I fell asleep! Reached hotel only after 1pm when my plane was supposed to have touched down at 11am lor. Yawn!

Had to check in asap to get some work done so no shopping nor relaxation for me! Jules was due to join me later that evening at 10pm and I had to meet the Thai team to run through the schedule as Franz's schedule *almost* clashed with Deus'. They brought me out for dinner and after that, I just suddenly developed a splitting headache. Came back to the room, skype-d a while with G until my headache became so damn intense and I had to take to the bed. Jules still hadn't arrived and it was past midnight! She did text me earlier to tell me that her flight was delayed. She finally arrived close to 1am and I went back to sleep. Woke up in the middle of the night to hear her snoring/snorting away. Poor gal has a very bad cold and major phlegm and guess who had to suffer? I almost couldn't get back to sleep - I wanted to cover her face with a pillow!

Woke up Sat morning and had to get to work! Popped over to Four Seasons with a Thai colleague to make sure the Oasis stuff is sorted out and came back to my hotel to get the Franz one started!

The Oasis press conference was amazing - I think everyone was intimidated by the band so much so that nobody dared to ask any questions! Plus Liam & Noel almost always had a smart-ass or super nonchalant reply to questions. The amazing thing is that the Oasis interviews ran like clockwork and in fact even finished slightly ahead of schedule! I must admit when I first saw Liam and Noel, I was like 'wow, Oasis!' and Liam crashed into me in his haste to leave the press conference room. He just looks like a very hairy looking monkey - what's up with all that excess facial hair?

The rock fest is a riot! Ian Brown was too mellow - almost boring! Franz rocked as always - they are a hard act to top honestly! I must admit I enjoyed them more here in BKK than in HK coz I get to party with Jules! In addition, we bumped into Linda, Sujin, Sharlene (from Lynda's wedding), SuperMario and a few other Singaporean pals!

Oasis - well I'm in two shoes about their performance honestly. The songs were awesome, they did some of my faves like 'Acquiesne' (sp?), 'The Masterplan' and the classics like 'Live Forever', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol', 'Champagne Supernova','What's the Story, Morning Glory' etc. They also did stuff from the new album of course but the gripe that I have is that they don't bother to talk to the audience in between the songs - there was dead air while their guitar techs changed their guitars for them. In fact, at one point, Liam sort of threw a bratty fit towards the end of a song and went 'fuck this is a waste of my time', knocked the mic off the stand and walked off! (he came back in the end) WTF indeed.

All in all - a pretty decent first day what with work going well and the awesome performances from Franz and Oasis. Snow Patrol tmrw! Well will also catch Placebo though I am not a fan at all. Will also head out shopping with Jules a bit and we will try to fit in massages/manicures/pedicures on Monday!

Toodles all! Muakz!

Sunflowers

Pretty flowers! This lovely bunch have taken residence in my office cubicle as I am too embarrassed to bring them home. (plus I don't have any vase at home big enough to hold them hee!)Anyway I spend more time in the office than home and as I am off to Bangkok this weekend, might as well leave them in the office to brighten up the office and not let them go to waste.

I LOVE THESE FLOWERS! So cheerful looking!

Am also uploading the pic of my (infamous) Prada bag just for those who are curious!

My first flowers!

Was about to head out to the Franz Ferdinand press conference at the concert venue. Erica and I were supposed to leave at 12.30 to get to the venue to ensure the TV crew was properly set up and while waiting for Erica to get ready, I went to the bathroom. When I returned, my colleagues were standing around near my cubicle beaming away. I was like 'What?' and they were chattering away in Cantonese. I was like 'WHAT??' then Cardin whipped out a huge bouquet of flowers and passed to me. Erica was thrilled "You are the first one in the office to get flowers!!" and no they were not from Cardin - they were from G who ordered these online a week ago for me! These were not the usual pink/red roses but sunflowers which are bright & cheery (and incidentally HIS fave flowers too :P )

So yeah this is the first bunch of flowers I have ever received in my life as a romantic gesture. Thank you sweets! *MUAKZ* OMG I'm turning sappy! STOP ME! :P

So it's February 14...

As Trish says 'V DAY ONLY MAH!'. Yeah tru dat. I counted 18 bouquets of flowers on my way here to work but they were mostly the florist delivery folks holding on to 2-3 bunches and sending to some squealing office gal. Some of these bouquets are frightful, yeah they are huge ass bouquets but not very nice?!

So to those who are 'celebrating' V day, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO YOU!

For those who have nothing but utter disdain for the day, repeat after me:
"VALENTINE'S DAY ONLY MAH!"

HAHA!

Will soon be off for a 'hot date' with Franz Ferdinand for today and tonight's the concert! 'Take me Out!' alright! :)

Food

There's nothing to eat in HK! I am so sick of eating either fishball kuay teow soup (which is my fave incidentally) or roast goose/roast pork/char siew/chicken/roast duck rice. There are other things to eat no doubt but when you are eating alone, you don't enjoy the meal as much - it's just putting food in ur tummy and I am terrified of getting fat what with the food in HK not being particularly nutritious.

Just had a bowl of instant noodles with enoki mushrooms and pork sausages for dinner. I live by the meal now, I can get hungry but no food will appeal to me - nothing shouts "EAT ME!" Yawn.

Was supposed to go for a blingin' party with Cardin yesterday but after waiting for her fren to call (it was her friend's friend's party) we got bored and headed for pancakes and smoothies at 1am and after that, headed to her ex-boss Judy's place for TV and chatted till about 4am. That wasn't so bad - I am quite out of tune with partying; too much energy required I reckon and I way prefer sitting down with drinks then tryin' to 'move it'.

Crap - I think I put too much fabric softener in my laundry, now my whole house smells like it! Haha!

Counting down the days

When you have something to look forward to, time passes by a lot more slowly. If you occupy yourself with activities and try not to count down the days, it could *possibly* be a lot less painful.

I'm off to Bangkok next week from the 17 - 20 Feb for the Bangkok Rock Festival! I am quite excited about it coz I've always wanted to attend one of these music festivals (Fuji Rock, Big Day Out, Edinburgh, heck even Party at the Park haha!) but have NEVER ever had the chance to! So even though this is in Bangkok and I may have to mostly work, it's a 'ho goh boh' situation! And the best part is, Jules is coming over for the fest and she'll be crashing with me! I may possibly only need to work on 17th evening, and whole of 18th and I should be free to enjoy most of 19th and 20th morning since I fly back in the afternoon!

Wanted to stay at Four Seasons Hotel coz that's where Oasis will be at! But no, tamade, NO ROOMS lor! So I'm gonna be back at Dusit Thani.

My friend JH was gonna meet me for shopping last night but she ended up being stuck with her colleagues for dinner and all and couldn't make it. She's flyin back home today *sniff*. However I just found out I have an ex-colleague who's gonna be here over the weekend so may be meeting him for yum cha tomorrow!

Wow - what a jam-packed Feb! Though all I really want is to jump straight into mid-March!

Toodles my friends! *Muakz*

And then it hits you....

I have been worrying and killing myself with my insecurities and unnecessarily paranoid thoughts and I know it. But I think I have *finally* gotten round to it and like a speeding truck on the highway, the realisation has finally hit me (pretty damn hard that's what I think). So bye bye paranoia, bye bye insecurities!

2006 has been interesting so far (as u would agree what with the latest development in my personal life :P ). Work-wise, I'm getting a new boss come March and I've been told he is a nice bloke and indeed he is. He called me for a chat yesterday and said that he needs to get a team together (well there will only be me and Erica and him after my current boss leaves!) and he has heard good things about me (phew!) so hopefully work-wise, all will look up come March!

My friend Jiahui is in HK! Heh! Sue just left on Sun and I have company again! Well she's here for work so we don't have much time to hang but I managed to pop over to TST last night where she is staying and we went shopping (omg can someone stop me please!), had dinner and had a good time - I haven't caught up nor hung out with her in months! So hopefully she will be free tomorrow night for us to go out again before she heads home to SG on Fri.

Alright, here it is. 'Nuff said.

I can't believe I did it

Brought Sue to the Prada clearance store earlier today. We both woke up about 11 plus this morning and she HAD to finish this dodgy movie on Star Movies before we headed out to yum cha at Times Square. By the time we were done with food, it was about 3pm. We took a bus upon Eric's advice and made our way to the suburbs of South Horizons.

Branded stuff are evil. It is much cheaper in the store obviously. Sue bought a lovely pair of yellow pumps at HK$1500 and Me! I bought a dark brown bag with red straps at HK$3100. Yes, u read that right - HK$3100. I don't know what came over me but I loveeeeeeee it. So yes, I've made my first branded purchase and I certainly do not wish to make this a habit.

Following our big splashout, we took a taxi to Stanley Market for a leisure stroll through the market where she bought a funky Chinese silk bag. I refused to buy anything else after what I had just spent. We hopped on the bus to Central and headed towards Mongkok. Went to the usual places but she didn't buy much. Fussy shopper that one. Heh

Now we are home chilling for a while before heading to LKF for a drink. She's goin back tomorrow at 2pm and I'll be all alone in HK once again.

I wish I have the luxury of goin back to Singapore every other weekend or at least once a month.

How to say it?

I'm not sure whether some of you have been waiting for me to blog about the most 'exciting' thing that has happened to me recently. Truth be told, I don't know how to say it without sounding overly cheesy. Let's just say in the personal details column that used to read 'single', it no longer reads that now.

That wasn't so bad! :P

So here I am, in HK and snowed in under with heaps of work. I am beginning to feel full blown panic - what with Franz being just a week away and Oasis to follow a week after that. The promo plans are being put together and re-put together and trying to accomodate management's restrictions plus the countries' pleas to 'please try to get us the photoshoot so we can get a cover story' - OMG can I just curl up in bed and drift off to dreamland please? I'll even take a few humbins if it means I wake up and February is over. In fact, I'd like to sleep right through March to April and wake up the week before the Easter break. :)

Anyhowwwwwwww, Sue is in town and probably either watching TV or shopping or possibly even cleaning my floor for me right now. My house is a sty - amazing how dust can get through tightly closed windows while I was away! I am going to bring her to the Prada clearance store tomorrow, and possibly more shopping at TST (at Esprit warehouse of coz) and Mongkok where we can always unearth good and cheap buys!

Back to my lunch and then back to work! Argh!

Backstreet's Back alright!

This is possibly the longest I have gone without posting - 8 days eh?

I don't quite know what to write about or well at least I don't know how to write what has happened in my most recent trip back home to Singapore. :)

For starters, I was back mainly to watch the BSB and to do a meeting with MTV the following day. Met the band backstage and must say, it was a dream come true. Haha! I'm no longer a huge fan but I was, 10 years ago. But that was when they were all younger, fitter and better looking. Now AJ has too much eyeliner and a receding hairline, Kevin still has scary eyebrows and now a saggy ass, Howie looks fit & normal but not handsome then, not handsome now! Brian still looks the same but a bit more tired looking and boy he is shorter than I expected! Nick!! Handsome boyish face but body of a 4 month pregnant woman lor!

The concert was great fun but WK was right. There's something a bit sad about 5 grown up men doing synchronized dance moves. And them being 'old' and fat doesn't help lor. But the songs were a joy to sing along to and they were entertaining. Their stupid dance moves cracks me up and u can tell they've been doing it for years coz they just sort of went through the motions without any emotions. Very entertaining concert but I wished I watched them at their peak and not when now they are a bit over the hill.

Ah shit, this post has taken me too long to write - coz i got distracted by my house guests Sue & her lil bro plus our regular stupid conference call at 9.30pm lor!!!! Shall continue tmrw. Muakz all!
