Same Same... but different

This is an interesting promo tour for me. I have been here for 2 days and unfortunately, the schedule has not permitted me to go out and see Beijing. I do wanna at least see Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Great Wall of China is out of the question as it is 4 hours away from the main city! Ah well.

This TV show that the band is supposed to go on is also just hysterical. They also assigned a translator for them but the translator did such a bad job trying to explain what they are supposed to do; in the end I translated it for them. They also did two interviews for the biggest Chinese media here and one of the journalists cannot speak English! He passed me his interview questions written down in Chinese and I had to ask the band the questions in English. Not to be shameless (but I am - that's why you love me :) ), my Chinese is better than I thought!

Flying back to HK tomorrow at 1pm and then wait at the airport for my 8pm flight back to SG! Woohoo!

Beijing

I am off to Beijing for a last minute work thing this Wednesday. One of our artistes is going there to perform at some CCTV/MTV China event. I am not too sure what is going on but ah well, I've never been to Beijing before! I hope the details iron out by tomorrow coz right now, everything's kinda hanging in the air. I return from Beijing to HK on Friday and I will have to wait at the airport for 3 hours before I take my 8pm flight back to SG for the weekend! WOOHOO! Going Jumbo Seafood on Sunday! I'm just so thrilled, thinking about those black pepper crabs!

I have promised myself to go on a less meat, less carbs diet after I come back from SG and drink nothing except water, fruit juice and my Apple Cider Vinegar + honey cocktail. I should also start reducing the amount of honey I put in my ACV cocktail so it's more effective.

Am tired but I haven't packed yet. Laundry's waiting. Gotta go. Toodles!

Miss World

Watching Star World now and they are showing Miss World. Singapore is represented by a skanky looking Malay chick with awful bleached blonde streaked hair and a mouth bigger than Australia. Worse - she looks a bit manly! What is this? I am embarrassed! Then again, who watches Miss World anyway? Not everyone's as loser as me, watching TV on a Sat night! Ha!

Hairy

Was in a meeting just now and I noticed... that the other 3 colleagues of mine in my marketing team, all have the same hair! All long, past shoulder length, with slight curls in them. Hahahahaha!

I feel special. :) Even though my hair now is straight & boring with my usual layered ends. It's also a solid dark brown, to cover my greys. I look a bit guai, but I think G says he likes. :P

Boh liao post of the day! I go eat lunch now! Bye bye!

K drama?!

I have to admit that I REALLY do not understand what the fuss is all about this whole Korean drama thing. I have no doubts some of these shows are witty, funny, heartwarming (for the comedies), melodramatic, melancholic, emotional (for tragedies where the female or male lead USUALLY die... more often than not from some incurable disease and the other party will spend about half the show crying... PROBABLy but I haven't watched any before but I have heard this is what usually happens).

What I mostly don't get is why normally sensible people would obsess over Korean actors/actresses who probably plastic-surgery'ed their way to looking picture perfect? I admit that being in the industry, I am probably a lot more jaded than the average man on the street with these so-called 'stars'. Hey, they are only human, just with better skin & a fatter pay check than us average folks so having people rant & rave to me about how bloody 'gorgeous' they are, honesty, drives me a bit crazy.

Alright, random rant of the day over. May continue. See how I feel. If I get another person telling me to watch Korean dramas OR worse, Canto dramas to improve my Canto, I am going to smack the person down WWE style! Grrrrr!!!

Real food!

I am back from the land of 'lah' 'leh' & 'lor'. I think I ate too much 'heaty' stuff and I am now coughing! But it is all fine with me! I had sambal kangkong, fish head curry, chicken rice, hainanese pork chop, beehoon with ngo hiang, sambal stingray (which I missed very much!), hokkien mee, oyster omelette, satay... shiok man!

Now it's back to 2 weeks of instant food or as cheap as I can possibly muster coz I just got my credit card bill and it is just shocking! G's bday present, bday dinner, my new BV wallet, air ticket and other misc stuff! I will still have one more air ticket to pay for since I'm comin back next weekend, and one more in end October! Air tickets are okay with me, it's just all that 'extra' money that I spend that I don't see such as my train ticket to & fro the airport (HK$100/S$22 each way) plus ground expenses in SG (travelling not cheap and food is not free okay!) Next weekend must be a low cost weekend. G & I drove past East Coast Park from his place to town and I think perhaps next weekend, we can go cycling! Which is much healthier and fun since we will probably STILL pig out at the end of the day! Heh! And instead of going out for a drink, we will buy drinks back and chill out on his garden swing which is much better as than squeezing at a crowded cafe. Oh man, I am getting old!

I'm le tired so I will stop blogging now. There will definitely be updates now I'm back in cantoshithole with nothing to do! Ha! Toodles!

On the edge

Just as I was starting to feel better, it happened again.

Once again, I feel antsy, insecure, increasingly paranoid and a growing lack of self-worth.

I need to come back to Singapore soon.

4 more days.

I really hate feeling this way!

Teenagers

I was surfing through my brother's blog and clicked to some of his friends' blogs through his links. This is how teenagers write these days. It is quite hysterical.

'I'm like super tired now? LOL. '

'oh i saw him again. mmhmm. he smokes. eew. no wonder hes so skinny. all the nicotine. hhaha. eew. hate ppl who smoke.'

'i am like so happy! *GRinzzzz Grinnnzz*'

Actually, who am I to complain when I pepper my sentences in my blog with lah, leh, hor? But some of these sentences are not even coherent. Aiyah, I don't know how to give examples so hop on over to my bro's blog and click on some of his friends' blogs. Some of the gals' blogs are fun to read coz they gush about 'cute boys'!

Oh, to be 17 again! :)

Tung Po

My colleagues & I went back to that excellent dai pai dong Tung Po again! We had dinner with a work contact, someone who works in a video duplication company. I took more pictures this time round and shall post them.

This is prawn deep fried in egg yolk! Fried to the crisp so much so u can eat the prawn shell as well! This is my fave dish! YUM!

'Hong shao tofu' which is totally out of this world! One of the best tofu dishes I've ever had! The black looking mess is the squid ink pasta which I have posted before. It's nice lah, trust me.
This chicken is DA BOMB! The skin is oh so crispy and the meat oh so fragrant! The dipping sauce that comes with it is also in a league of its own! Gosh I'm so bad at describing food! I'm not doing these yummy dishes any justice!

Deep fried pork knuckle. Alright, this was pretty nice but it ain't one of my faves. G loves it though! So does Cardin! Dessert! Chin chow with sago bits in ginger juice! It's pretty good but the ginger taste takes a while to get used to, at least for me!

If you come to HK, WE WILL GO! (provided you can speak Cantonese coz I can't quite order these food lor :P)

David Ford

I'm addicted to this album 'I Sincerely Apologise For all the Trouble I've Caused' by newcomer David Ford. The album only has 9 tracks and runs at a mere 44 minutes ish. Initially when I first heard it, I was like 'Bleah how bloody depressing is this album' but this is slowly growing on me. It is still depressing but I enjoy some of the lyrics in a perverse sort of way. For example --

Cheer up (you miserable fuck)
This has gone on long enough
And I don't want to hear any more
Because if you wait for the day
You find your thinking bends to straight
You'll be waiting for a long long time.

At Lee Hom's

Waiting for Lee Hom's concert to start. This is G's FIRST EVER Chinese artiste concert! I was worried he wouldn't enjoy himself but knowing Lee Hom's style, I had a sneaky feeling that G might! And true enough, when Lee Hom's dancers were bopping to some hip hop style music, G & I were having a laughing fit, coz Lee Hom was going 'Yo, all da B Boys & da Fly Gals', we thought it was so 'nigga'. Ha!

Lee Hom on the piano. We were pretty impressed coz he could play the piano, violin, drums and some other instruments that I can't remember right now and he was also a decent dancer too!We left after his 'last' song, didn't stay for the encore coz we didn't want to squeeze with a few thousand people on the train. Here is G with his best groupie shot. I realise how 'famous' my blog makes him coz he appears more often than I do! Haha! So much so that some of my 'readers' (i.e. my SG colleagues) could recognize him without meeting him before! :)

Inspired by 'B boys & Fly Gals', check out this super hilarious picture of G! OMG, I hope he doesn't kill me! We couldn't find a suitably bling necklace so we had to substitute it with a lanyard thingy but I'm sure you get the picture. Haha!
