Two more days!

Well technically 3 more days in the office before I go back to SG (Sat's my Mom's birthday) and then on Sat night (technically Sun morning at 1.20am), we are finally going on holiday! Gosh seems like we have been planning this for eons and it's not here yet? Argh!

G is (sort of) panicking coz he has major work events happening in mid April which he needs to sort out as much as possible before going on the holiday. I'm not quite panicking yet - I will panic probably on Friday about an hour before going to the airport - but there's nothing much I can do for a lot of things as I sit and wait for my US office to get back to me with the info I have been requesting for weeks ago.

I have been packing, unpacking, repacking since Sunday coz I didn't know what to bring! I wanted to bring my summer wear, but checks on Aussie weather websites indicate that the weather would be ' 6 - 23 degress'. KNN - HOW TO PACK LIKE THAT? 7 degrees and 22 degrees, u wear very different things lor! In the end, I packed two long sleeve cotton tees, two tank tops, two short sleeves - and one additional jacket on top of the one I'd be wearing. That'll bloody work wouldn't it? Now to worry about shoes.........Coz we are driving around Western Australia, I can't bring my big suitcase, so everything has to fit in the small Sammie I have and I'm not the most brilliant packer in all honesty.

Argh, major backache and funnily enough when I drink water, my chest hurts. Funky.

Pits!

There's this girl who goes to the night yoga classes at 9.15pm like I do (coz the 7.15pm classes are impossible to get in - they are always super full) I notice her coz she comes in wearing a hat. Yes, a sun hat. At night. For yoga.

Never mind.

For the first time, she was on the mat next to me last night. As we put one arm behind on our back, with the other over our head grabbing it from the other direction, I noticed, to my horror - she had ARMPIT HAIR! And it's not stubble, it's FULL GROWN, BUSHY, ONE INCH LONG patch of ARMPIT HAIR. I haven't seen armpit hair on a woman since I was 19 (when Addy & I attended the 21st birthday party of this sec sch friend of ours- she was wearing a white sleeveless dress that Addy joked probably thought made her look virginal but all anyone could really notice was the massive bushes peeping out from under both pits. We subsequently never saw her, and we don't wonder why, what with our massive giggles at her birthday party *blush*) Anyway, Yoga Woman's armpit hair looks untamed and though less 'thick' as my sec sch friend's, it looks like there has never been any attempt to remove them coz it looks so well grown. I didn't obsessively stare but she was friggin next to me! Argh! The sight of it! The thought of it! I'm glad I didn't humbin last night!

Shudder!

Boo!

I broke my favourite cup in the world! It's one huge ass one that I bought when I was in Los Angeles, n it's one of those touristy mugs that has cartoon drawings of the place! I had it since 2004! Boo!

And then, when I was in the toilet, while trying to close the toilet door, the latch cut my finger! And it's not a small cut, I can lift the 'flap' of the skin a bit and it bled quite a bit!

Boo!

Yoga piggies

So damn cute! Porcelain pigs in yoga position! I was once like the piggy below, with legs dangling helplessly in the air, but now I can fold myself into half! Prop me up on the shoulders and fold half with feet touching the floor behind my head!
Piggy in 'cobra' pose though I think it looks more like 'upward dog' . Piggy looks super gleeful. Fark, these things are too cute!

Cartoons!

Saw the trailers for the 'new' Charlotte's Web and made me wanna watch it. So I went to HMV and bought the cartoon that I loved as a child. And it is still 'T double E double R R double I double F double I double C!' The animation is not swanky since it was done in the 70s but I remember the story and the cartoon still so well - Templeton the Rat and Charlotte the blue eyed spider and how Templeton can make leftover junk circus food look like a 'smorgasbord' of yummy food haha! Goes to show a great story doesn't need fancy modern technology to tell it well. I also want to watch this - it looks fun! Shall go buy the VCD later! Imagine - dancing penguins - that should be a real hoot!
Two brilliant animated features that if you haven't seen it, you should totally! I saw the below two flicks in the plane - Hooray for inflight entertainment- and both are brilliant. I think adults might enjoy them more than children coz the jokes are dark but the execution is good. Monster House is even 'scary' at some point. The characters are really likable and spout some really killah funny lines!
Hoodwinked is about - according to the movie tagline - 'the true story of Little Red Riding Hood' who by the way, in this movie kicks ass and is a karate chopping kungfu kiddo. Hoodwinked seems to have gone under the radar a bit coz the animation is not as pretty as most Disney Pixar flicks but the story line is very enjoyable and is really quite funny. Your typical 'good triumph over evil' storyline told in a way I haven't quite seen before in an animated feature!

Annoying co-worker

There is this one co-worker in my department that none of us like. We don't HATE her, we just cannot find anything about her to like. When she tries to be friendly, we feel she's trying too hard and coming across really fake. Then she does all these things that to us, looks like she's trying to suck up to the bosses. And when it comes to work, even our affiliates who are not in the same office as her don't like her.

My point is, how the hell does she stay on the job? This doesn't say very much about the rest of us does it? To outside people, it may look like all you need is smooth talk and oozing with fakeness to get yourself a job that scores you a big (and smelly coz she smells weird - I SWEAR!) office where you can sit there whole day and blackberry away (errm you can use the computer u know?), text your boyfriend, read the movies page of the newspapers and make your plentiful dinner plans.

She really annoys me and sometimes I wonder is it coz I am ticked off by the fact I know I do more (and possibly better) work than her but I have a smaller title (and a lousy positioned cubicle)? It is not that I covet the solitary office space but I just feel peeved that someone as useless and incompetent and irresponsible as her can get the title, pay and 'perks'. Oh, and she's 'smart' in the sense that whenever she KNOWS the boss is not in the office, she comes in SUPER late. It's 10.40am now (we usually start at 9.30 - the grace period is till 10am) and she is STILL NOT HERE.

Oh but what can I say? I'm blogging during office hours! Haha! But I feel very pissed off and need to vent! I can't stand her! Argh! She would be a factor to cite when I leave. "I cannot breathe the same air as her - it makes me physically sick' Heh heh!

Skidless for a happier yogi!

I get sweaty palms during my 'downward dog' pose in yoga which makes me fidget coz I keep adjusting my hands so I don't end up spreadeagled on my mat. Seasoned yogi Yang told me about this - I see this in my yoga studio! I will try!

Pretty flowers!

I have a recent obsession with flowers. I keep looking at them everytime I pass by a florist which is very often coz there's one on my street, opposite the entrance of my apartment, and there's another one in the small street off the main road that I walk towards my office from the MTR station. I would go in and ask about the smaller and possibly cheaper bunches yet cannot bring myself to pay S$30 for a tiny bunch.

I never used to like flowers coz I didn't get them. Like they last one week and they die and it's a waste of money and all. But the beauty, colour and in some cases- smell of flowers can really lift one's mood. I used to buy some cheap flowers from the supermarket to put in the tiny vase I have on my ledge so my house wouldn't look so 'dead'. But supermarket flowers not the same as a nicely arranged bouquet. (I resorted to dried flowers aka potpourri subsequently)

Calla lilies! I never even knew that's the name for these flowers. The white ones are prettier but I like this pic...
And tulips which are always lovely in any colour.

Alright totally pointless post - I just wanted an excuse to put pictures on my blog. Have a nice weekend all!

Chicken head!

I was having dinner with my colleagues last week before we headed off to this exclusive club called MINT for a trade party hosted by MTV. We ate at this traditional HKie Chinese restaurant and ordered the usual vegetables, pork, crispy tofu skin with prawn and chicken. As there were only 4 of us, the order was for HALF a chicken. Having a chicken head served with your chicken is not uncommon - but seriously? HALF A CHICKEN HEAD?
The obviously very dead chicken.
I can't believe they cut the chicken head into half as well! I mean yes it's HALF a chicken but cutting the chicken head into half is just... well too literal ain't it. I'm sure some of us don't mind having our half of the chicken served without the head. Check out the 'brains', the 'eye' - basically the erm 'interesting' cross anatomy of the chicken head.
The pics aren't very clear (stupid Nokia 6280!) but that's pretty sick huh! The gals at the table made me turn the head back coz they can't bear to look at the 'inside' of the chicken head!

Some songs...

...make me feel melancholic and even slightly depressed. I need to surround myself with happier music but music is shite these days. My mind is overactive with imagination and sometimes I can't differentiate why I think the way I do. Am I a bad person? Selfish? Unforgiving? Demanding? I know I can get petty but compared to a lot of other girls I know, I think I'm pretty good. Argh I need to forget about this soon or it will eat me up inside and make me terribly unhappy.
