Horoscope

Capricorn
You might find yourself really interested in getting out and doing something today,
dear Capricorn. And why not? It cannot be too difficult to phone a few friends
and arrange for getting together in the evening. Or perhaps you'd look up the
events page in your local newspaper to see whether a meeting or lecture takes
place that you'd like to attend. Or is there a place you've been curious about
and have wanted to visit? If so, go there today and check it out. Make the best
of your time!

Friends? What friends? Sigh! But they got it right - I REALLY want to do something today. But I'm going to check out a hotel where we will be supposedly doing a marketing meeting and then doing dinner at the hotel as well. Then back to home again, alone, on a Friday night.

Horse racing

SJ asked why I haven't updated - heh, was out on Wed, watching horse racing and was in the office till abt 11 on Thurs, on our bloody fortnightly totally-pointless-but-the-bosses-think-it-is-a-good-idea conference call to NY.

Anyway, went to Happy Valley race course on Wed after work - I learnt to say 'Happy Valley Race Course' in Cantonese.... of coz I had to practice it a few times with my colleague so the cabbie will understand me.. the receptionist was amused by my funny pronounciation..hey i'm trying!

Met Adrianne and her Singaporean friends at the horse racing place... and frankly, apart from being able to speak Singlish, I don't think I have that much in common with them. They are all bankers and only one was kinda nice but I think there's just no spark if u get what i mean. The only thing we have in common is probably huge interest in local food and that's it. Oh well - won't be counting on them to call me out anyway. Well we discussed what horses to buy and I started out small, just buying HK$10 on the placement of the horse. I.e. as long the horse I placed my bets on comes within the Top 3, I will win. That's like a really safe way to play but u won't win big bucks.... Nonetheless, I just randomly picked a horse in one of the races for 'Win' (bigger winnings) as well as 'Place' (Top 3 position) and I won! Hehe! Altogether I won only about HK$120 which isn't too bad considering all the bets I placed were like HK$10 here and there........

After the horse racing, it was apparently within walking distance from the race course to my house. I now have a better understanding of what's beyond Causeway Bay. Heh.

Nothing else to update except I learnt a few new canto phrases for spoon, hungry, disgusting and 'get off the car'.

Very random I know but hey, key words to get me by!

Okie am bored on a Sat morning - need to buy some stuff for the horse i.e. mattress protector, a rack for me to hang my wet clothes to dry (right now it's very pathetic, all over hangers in the bathroom & spare bedroom!) as well as perhaps a mop. The house can't stay clean!

Going to find some grub now.

Klutz

Was taking something off the bathroom shelf and my makeup pouch fell to the floor and my Elizabeth Arden blush broke! Boohoo! Well it was free but still! EA! Now I will just move to my Benefit powder blush...

Finally got the building handyman to unclog my bathtub that flows out my bath water really slow. I'll be done at the end of the shower with ankle deep water. It is awful and to top it off, the bathroom light above it blew a few weeks ago so the bathroom has been semi-dark.

After he fixed it, i took Cif (formerly known as Jif which is the name my mom still refers to) and scrubbed the tub clean! Even scrubbed the sink as well as the toilet bowl. Bloody toilet bowl flushes brownish water, think the cistern thingy is moderately mouldy at the bottom which i can't get at! That annoys the hell out of me but it gets the job done i.e. flushes so can't care less. But bathroom is now spanking white & clean!

Okie, as u can tell there isn't much to update if i have to even tell u about my bathroom scrubbing activites. Should have more for u tmrw after going to see Horse Racing. Gawd I hope it'll be fun and unlike what I imagine Turf Club to be! Also, you guys who read it, never post any comments one leh. Gimme something to read too leh! :P

Man, I loveeeeee HK TV ads.. esp the public service announcements.. they have one that encourages safe sex and goes 'dom dom dom dom dom dom' and anti-excessive gambling ad and ads that goes 'sex education begins with parents' with a bunch of teenage gals chatting abt whether to have sex with their bf or not as well as 'do not grow plants on govt land' or something like that.....
Heehee... these ads are hysterical but clever mostly.

Okie, I def need a life.. a post on TV ads. I am going crazy.

No more typhoon

I swear it's just Jules, there's no more typhoon liao though it's still a bit windy...

I am re-posting this coz I have no life as you all know it. It was probably for the best that the previous post got deleted coz that was an exceptionally crappy piece of writing.. (not like this is any better haha! I took out some stuff lah) - it's still pretty long.

Jules & Sherina (her boss) came on Friday nite and from that night on, it was windy like mad. Turned out that we had a constant typhoon signal 3 throughout the weekend. I swear it's just them, coz in my 4 weeks here, I only experienced a typhoon once, and it was a signal one. And that was intense, with very heavy rain. It rained badly on Sunday morning but it was super duper windy throughout the weekend, particularly Sat.

It was shopping galore from Sat morning onwards starting at Tsim Sha Tsui. After a dimsum breakfast (where we got ripped off with super expensive xiao long bao), we all bought stuff, ranging from those Chinese silk pouches, to shoes (i bought two pairs at HK$60 & HK$70 each!) and the two of them were determined to find a branded bag for some reason. Guess you can't quite find it in TST or Mong Kok which we went to later that afternoon. Jules even managed to buy a top at HK$10!!

We managed to find this restaurant I have been looking for ever since a HK colleague brought WK & I there before in Mong Kok. After 'Ladies' Market' (which is a tourist essential), we were heading towards the train station when we found it! It serves yummy fried 'chu qian yi ding' instant noodles with fried chicken wings! EXCELLENT stuff! We even bought a pack home so we can have it for breakfast the next morning. Heh, but major 'pu zua'.

After dumping a day's worth of shopping, and them parading their new items to each other, we headed towards LKF where we met one of Sherina's friend. Went to Volar (again!) but it was empty at 10.45pm so headed towards Dragon-I which is also quite a 'IT" place. It was, and after letting us sit at a reserved table for a while, we had to vacate... Even after we ordered drinks. Fucked up place, apparently serves models clientele predominantly, and most of the club is VIP, with very little seats for 'normal' folks! PTUI!

Proceeded to this tiny club called JEWEL where the only way u can 'buy' ur way into the club is to order 2 bottles of Dom Perignon. Thankfully they had two guy friends who were here for business and they paid. And man was that some excellent champagne! We got pretty 'happy' and poor Jules had to put up with one of the guy's fren being over friendly and attempting to put his arm around her all the time. I was just constantly refilling my flute with the HK$900 champagne! WOOOHOO!

Woke up to howling wind on Sun, so had to chill till about 12 before we went out around my area. The gals were determined to buy a bag and not any cheapo bag at that! We checked out plenty of those 2nd hand branded bag stores and on a tip from Adrianne (the gal who brought us to the clubs the night before), headed towards Ap Lei Chau to the Prada Warehouse. And those two gals bought a bag each. I was eyeing a nice yellow leather one which cost abt S$680 which isn't expensive for a Prada at all! Luckily my common sense got the better of me and now i still have the money in my bank.

We met up with some of Sherina's frens and went for an excellent dinner at Times Square at a restaurant called Water Margin. Man, it cost a bomb but was it worth every penny! We started with smoked pork cheek (too erm smoky in our opinion), and had an excellent lamb dish (done the way roast pork is done), beef fillet (oh so good!) , tofu, this green veggie that looked like pieces of jade, cold pigeon, and the highlight of the dinner was the house specialty - fried chicken that came served in a huge plate covered with dried chilli. Man was it spicy! I swear all our lips went numb and we were eating white rice, drinking lychee liquer, rose tea, ice water, well anything that would take away the burning sensation but boy it was awesome!

Meeting up with some of this group of ppl this Wed - gonna watch Horse Racing! Should be quite an eye opener and will hopefully slowly make more friends. One of them has said there's no point joining whatever Singapore Association coz he went to one before and he was out so fast even before actually MEETING them coz it was just full of ah peks. Errr, great, thanks for the tip off.. will just have to make friends the more difficult way then. This coming from a guy who's at least 35 and he thinks those are ah peks, i think they are like my Dad's age man.....

Just when i said the typhoon has stopped, it has just started howling and raining again. Keepin fingers crossed for Typhoon Signal 8 - don't need to work! Hee hee!

More on Wed!

Phlegm

I am developing a cough. This morning I coughed up a tiny chunk of green phlegm. And it's like a dry cough, i can feel the 'taste' of the green phlegm at the back of the throat. Not fun at all. I need lozenges, I have cough syrup but dun think it will work since I've always had nasty coughs that no medicine can fix.

Tried to cook a different dinner for once... I fried noodles. Not enough seasoning so it was a bit 'flat'. Can't quite say it's bland coz I put salt and Maggi seasoning in it but it just ain't tasty enough. I put in olive oil, fried garlic, tossed in minced pork, then mushroom and veg and putting the noodles in... dunno what else was missing but when in doubt, put my mom's 'hay bee hiam'. Heh.

Had an email boo boo just now. I'm such a geek. Adeline & Gary knows what went on. Heh I can't believe after all those Cosmopolitans & Cleo mags, I'm still so dense. It's actually damn funny :P

Go figure.

The MTV party with Edison...

Went for dinner with Cardin before the MTV party at The Edge. It was free flow! Haha! Vodka cranberry galore!

Found a table at the corner of the club coz the dance floor was full of chee hong ang moh men and slutty ang moh gals. WTF man. I was happy with my vodka cranberry - keep it flowin' bartender!

Met some of the Universal regional office people and man were they a friendly bunch! Well it took a while to warm up obviously and thankfully Erica knows some of them and it was just self introduction and sit down talk cock coz I'm a newbie to their country. Meeting a bunch of them for lunch next Tues.

Caught a glimpse of Edison at the party.. Cardin managed to get pretty upclose to him and said his skin looks nice and smooth. Found out that one of our colleagues knew Edison!! Ha, well, let's do drinks one day, shall we? ;-) And one of the gal from Universal went to high sch with him! Man, HK is just as small as SG.

Forgot what else I wanted to write, will update when it comes to me.

Jules is on the plane on her way to HK! YAY! :)

I can't think of bloody titles all the damn time!

ndr, the cyst is too gross to post and anyway it's at a place where it's a bit hard to snap a pic plus it could possibly be a bit obscene.

I had a great dinner tonight; my cooking skills are improving i think. I cooked the pepper pork chop i bought from the supermarket, cooked the veggies the only way i know and made a mushroom omelette! hee hee!

Anyway I have a visitor this Saturday!!! Jules is coming with her boss on a short holiday trip on Fri and they will crash with me on Fri nite, and depending on how comfy they are in my place, might go to a hotel or stay until Monday! YAY! We are going LKF and shopping! Hooray! I have plans again this weekend!

Am watching One Tree Hill now and I cannot believe Chad Michael Murray's character choose the blonde bimbo over the pretty brunette. And the blonde is such a cow!! Sneaking behind her friend's back and stealing her boyfriend! KARMA WOMAN! KARMA!! I normally don't watch One Tree Hill but since I only watch Star World these days, I kept seeing the fucking trailers over and over again so my curiosity got the better of me and I'm just watching this one ep!!!

Sorry, I digress.

Elene just told me yesterday that she is amazed by how much 'details' i put down in my blog. She said she feels like she is here with me. Haha. I am hardly a descriptive writer, I'm more of a narrative one which kinda explains the writing style of this blog. Her conclusion comes from my description of Volar (the club I went to on Sat) and how I describe the black chairs, white decor, silver curtains.... she said she would have written 'music good, decor nice'! Haha! She said it's like reading Tolkien which is hardly the case. Heck, I can barely bring myself to read Tolkien!!! Anyway, just thought I would mention Elene coz she & Kai have gone off to 'the motherland' as Kai puts it.. they are visiting Xi-an and Beijing and meeting up with their best pal Maisie (who is based in Seattle, USA mostly) and Sue (who is based in KL, ha ha sorry man, that sucks). Hope they have fun, pity they can't make a little detour to come visit me here in HK!

I am so looking forward to seeing Jules this Fri!!! :)
We will hit the shops!
HOORAY!

Edison!

I'm gonna see Edison the gorgeous tmrw! Haha! I'm never this 'groupie' but he is quite cute! Though I will most probably not be able to take any photos (HK clubs have a no photography rule mostly coz of the very persistent papparazzi!) but nonetheless, will be quite happy to see him in the flesh. And even if it's okay to take a pic, I won't anyway. I passed up Orlando Bloom, I can pass up on Edison.

It is a boring day at work so nothing much to update. It's the last day for one of a fellow Singaporean colleague who has been working in the Regional Office. He will be moving to another company in Beijing. Impressive.

Watched 2 episodes of 'Extras' in the office during lunch today and it's hysterical shit! I suggest you try to watch a couple of eps. It stars the guy in The Office which is equally hysterical. Very funny stuff.

Okie gonna go home now to cook dinner.
Toodles!

Cyst!

The nasty cyst on my thigh is gone! Gone gone gone! It was infected and was damn huge and hurt when I sat down. But one day i was just checking on it and it burst! Hahahahah! It burst and the pus came out which was like YAY! No need to pay for the doc to cut it open and stitch it back! It just burst like a zit and though it bled quite a fair bit, it's flat now.. it'll prob leave a ugly scar but I think it beats having the thing that looks like a mosquito bite. Heh, i know some of you thinks this is damn gross but too bad! :P

Bloody banks

I'm running out of money! I can't bloody believe it. When will my bloody ATM card come!!!!!???? Right now the only way I can get money is to go and queue at the bloody bank and do the old skool withdrawal! I have HK$200 left now... Sigh!

Macau

We get a public holiday as it was Mid Autumn Festival yesterday. Funnily I didn't see many people carrying lanterns but the people were out full force alright.

Had to go to Macau in order to re-enter the country under the Employment Visa. Macau is bleargh! Could be coz i had to go thru the ferry terminal and it was probably not as civilized as how the airpot would have been. The customs queue was insanely long and even though I was not in a rush to get anywhere, I sure wasn't gonna hang around and wait! And some stupid China woman tried to cut my queue, but my dagger glares had her slinking behind me. The place is just so absurdly uncivilized, and I thought I made a better choice opting for Macau than Shenzhen.... guess the mainland Chinese ARE EVERYWHERE!

When I bought my ferry tickets in HongKong i wanted to make sure that I could return on the same day so I bought a return as well (some ppl opt to buy it only when returning). I asked the guy at the counter to give me as early as possible and he's like... "you reach there 4.15, u wanna return at 4 plus too?" In the end I bought a 6.50pm ticket that gave me a few hours on flat ground before I returned to HK. That didn't give me enough time to go into Macau City and I tried to find out where was worth going and in all honesty, NOWHERE! Apparently European architecture is quite prominent in Macau and I saw a few casinos... the place looked a bit dirty and I just hung around the nearby Yaohan (!!!) mall and just went back to the Ferry terminal early... which was probably for the better coz it was also ANOTHER MADHOUSE. Thank gawd I brought my Marie Claire mag which proved to be more interesting than Cosmopolitan! On the return ferry, ANOTHER STUPID woman took my window seat and no matter how I tried to tell her mine is the window seat, she kept pointing to the aisle seat and nodding at it. I glared at her and really couldn't be bothered to argue with her and her stinky low class equally uncivilized husband. I had a good mind to just sit there and not let them out if they needed the loo!!!!

I have never been so damn glad to be in HK I tell u.

Bought dinner and ate in front of the TV while watching SCHOOL OF ROCK.

Maybe Macau would be better if i went with other ppl and knowing exactly what to see and buy etc.

Nonetheless... BLEARGH TO U STINKY uncivilized tourists at the
Macau Ferry Terminal!

A hint of a social life

Blah, it's so hard trying to sleep late, my damn curtains are beige in colour and they let all the damn light in!!! The sun rises about 6.30 here and when I wake up anytime after that it's usually too damn bright for me to get back to sleep. I managed to go back to sleep just now after waking up at 10 and woke up at a record 11.30am. Heh, well perhaps I shouldn't sleep so much, got a slight neckache now.

Anyway, a hint of a social life is beginning to form here in Hong Kong. Met up with Elene's fren on Friday for dinner and drinks and on Saturday, met up with a colleague for dinner as well. She brought me to a nice Shanghainese restaurant and we proceeded to a French bar for a drink. We ordered this French drink called' pestine' or something like that and it tastes like aniseed i.e. it tastes like bloody Fisherman's Friends to me. but it was a lovely pub, cozy with red decor (for those who have seen pics of my place will realise i like red decor).

After that we headed to a club called Volar (or something like that) where we met up with two other colleagues from the Digital Business team and two of the gal's frens. The club is sort of 'exclusive' as in u either need to know the people at the door or pay shit loads to get in (which the ang mohs do) Thankfully my colleague just had to say a bright breezy Hi and possibly air kiss the bouncer and we were in! It was playing predominantly hip hop which i'm not a huge fan of as most of you know but I was just relieved to be in a club that it was actually quite alright. The place was white with black leather chairs, with silver bar stools, and silver beaded curtains... two of them thought the club was a bit plain but I guess the positive description here is 'minimalist chic' Haha! We partied till about 2am and i was sleepy so i headed off home while Cardin met up with her Aussie friend who just came back from Guangzhou.

Went to watch a movie with Rena yest... we caught the "Brothers Grimm" at IFC which is a very posh mall here in HK and the movie ticket cost a whopping HK$65!!!! Wah, luckily the movie wasn't that bad (it got a bit lame towards the end but let's try to focus on the positive stuff here) coz if it was, wah lau, si bei dui.

It's Monday now and it's a public holiday! I have to go to bloody Macau coz of the bloody visa. Need to leave the country and come back what a complete pain in the arse. Sigh.. and I don't know what to eat for lunch again...

Finally, a decent weekend!

Some of you asked me why the blog hasn't been updated. Guess what i have actually been busy! *mock horror*

i started part of the blog but had to accompany my mom n sis out while theyw ere here between Sat to Tues. Therefore I started part of the blog (as below) and the rest i shall just put it in point form if not this will be way too long)
_____________________________________________________________
Last Friday after work (like abt 8.30pm) Michelle asked me to have dinner with her since her husband was not around this weekend. We took a bus to Lan Kwai Fong and i've almost forgotten how that place is like. I only remember it being very slopey.. and it still was.. and teeming with ang mohs (or gwei los) as the hongkies would say. Had dinner at a very riotous diner/drinking place where a bunch of drunk American gals were making a lot of noise. Nonetheless, it was still interesting to get out for once!!!! and have dinner with a human!
We had a drink with our dinner and had a good chat abt all things nonsense.

On Sat, my mom & sis came. My mom brought me a rice cooker, my lamp & my 3 eyed alien stuffed toy. We went to TST for dinner, which was good!! Then we tried to wander around that area (saw Chunking Mansions where the famous movie ChungKing Express was based on) then can't find anything to shop for so we headed to Mong Kok where the shopping is always good!!

My sis bought clothes and i bought a clock for the house, a towel (so cute with polka dots!) and two belts. Then on Sunday we woke up abt 9am to go to yum cha at Central at the pier. After that, they went to Disneyland while i decided to explore Central a bit since i've never really been there before.

I cut through the station and headed towards SoHo (which is a very hip place in New York i assure u.. so hip that i can queue for the same toilet at Starbucks as Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth when i was there in 2003. Celebs are photographed at SoHo all the time in NY. It's that hip.)

Well SoHo is a good 15 min walk from Central MTR station... so i walked... bloody area is slopes galore.. and i found the famous Central escalators... it goes from one suburb to another suburb and it's considered the world's longest escalator. Well technically it is kinda long but the escalator had like get off points so it's not one long unbroken escalator.. nonetheless.. impressive!

So my folks came back from Disneyland and said that it was quite fun. but it was a rehearsal day which explained the free tix, and it closed at 3pm.... so we went out to dinner to eat roast goose. It's like duck so i really don't know what all the fuss is about.

Anyway, they left on Tuesday, but not after my mom made a few dishes and stuck it in the fridge so that i can just heat up and cook rice n veggies to go with it. Save my hassle of having to cook, Yay.

And it was back to work work work with the fortnightly conference call with NY (utter waste of time sometimes) at 9pm HK time which usually lasts till abt 10 plus 11!! Sigh.. MM and I were so stoned by the end of the day and MT sounded really pissed off when the Americans went on n on... yeah well it's the beginnin of the day for them but we have been working for like 10 bloody hours already lor!

It was Erica (the mktg coordinator's) birthday on Thurs and we only found out on Thurs itself. So on Friday Cardin (the other mktg asst) and I went to buy a cake for her and some of us in the office gave her the cake and sang her a bday song, heh, it's a bit like back in the SG office just that this was outta our own pocket.

Met up with Elene's fren Rena for dinner and drinks last nite. Am relieved that we can get along alright. Even though she's 31, being very Singaporean helps! She says that there is a group of SIngaporeans that she meets up with once every 2 months and when they meet up next, she'll call me along. Am meeting her again on Sun to catch Brothers Grimm! Yay a hint of a social life finally!

Okie, i had to squeeze one week worth of stuff onto one post so i hope u are not cock-eyed yet.
Heh!
Back to my instant mee! YUM!

Disneyland

There was an office lucky draw yesterday for Disneyland tickets for this Sunday.
It's a pair of tickets... and i didn't draw any.

And anyway there was A SECOND CHANCE to draw again so everyone who didn't win in the first round, went for it again.

I WON! haahah! won 1 pair of tickets for this Sunday. Only problem is that my mom & sis are coming this Sunday so there aren't enough tickets to go around! Think i'll give it to them to go lah, afterall i've been to Disneyland before in Orlando & Tokyo so will let them go since they flew here, might as well let them go and see!

Bleah

Okie, just in case some of you think i'm losing my mind based on last night's post, I have decided to put up a new post.

Was just damn cranky coz was supposed to have the first 'social' dinner with two ex BMG (now Sony BMG) HK colleagues but at the last minute, the guy had to bail coz he has another meeting. Well all their own social lives has got to be more important than going out to dinner with single-gal-in-HK-alone so what to do. It's postponed til next week. I won't count on it.

Another Friday night. And no plans. Think I'll take the book Addy got for me and go to the nice cafe at G.O.D. and sit down to have a nice dinner. Nothing good on TV tonight. TV now determines whether I go out (buy stuff for the house) or stay in on the couch.

Mum n Di coming tmrw. Gotta tidy up a bit so she won't nag, and gotta figure out how to open the sofa bed from sofa to bed. Gosh, it looks difficult. I may not be able to get it back to sofa mode after opening it up. Wish me luck. It's the most mindless things in my life now that matters.

"Ronery"

I think 2 weeks of not having a social life is starting to really kill me.

I do enjoy work, I don't regret coming to HK (i think!) So i kinda wanna work more than anything coz at least at work, i have human interaction with colleagues, with people, HUMAN BEINGS i can talk to (like face to face! - webcams dun still quite count unfortunately) But this whole have-dinner-in-front-of-tv-and-laptop life is starting to get boring. I know I should give it a bit more time and that eventually!!! i will find some friends. But how, where, when I really don't know.

It can't be healthy for my mind and body, sitting at my coffee table every night with the laptop on my right and my dinner & the TV in front of me. Occasionally I will pop down to Watsons or to the supermarket to do a bit of shopping and that's all the fun I get.

Not to whine, i mean this is a job opportunity not to be missed... i just wish things were a little bit better.

Everyone who knows people here in HK are willing to help me hook up with their pals but I imagine people already have their own lives and may not necessarily want another newbie in their life... So i have been saying 'no thank you'. Everyone keeps asking why my colleagues don't go out with me. i imagine it's coz they don't that i don't expect other people's frens to wanna do the same. At this rate of TV dinners, I'm gonna send a SOS and ask everybody to get their frens to meet me for dinner or at least a bloody movie!

Okie, enough griping for the night. I've got another fucking huge ass infected cyst so I'm really in a foul mood.

BAH!

HK magazine

There is a magazine here that looks like IS. Probably IS originated from this. It's called HK magazine and it's exactly the same look n feel of IS mag. Picked up one issue last Friday and it's a 'Uniquely Singapore' cover!! The headline reads 'Singa-bore?"

Let me read the article... The article's sub-heading says 'Think it's just a banking hub? The Lion City that never sleeps is all about clubbing, pubbing, sunning and some of the world's most amazing eating"

REALLY?

The highlights of Singapore are apparently Sentosa (there's a new attraction called the luge?? Part go-cart, part toboggan... it sounds fun but i'm sure its cost is ridiculous) East Coast Park for wakeboarding and sea sports/water sports. And 'when the sun goes down', Boat Quay & Clarke Quay come recommended as well as Emerald Hill (Go Ice Cold Beer!). And who can forget good ole Zouk?! I hope they don't cancel out my membership card since i'm not there to collect! Ack!

Anyway Yeacy if u r reading this, good suggestion for my dinner.... I had great Vietnamese beef noodles. I walked towards a direction that i've yet to explored before and ended up in Wan Chai. Had to make like a little L turn to head back towards CWB just in case i get lost. I found The Face Shop and the sales asst was so nice (she can't speak Eng and i can't speak canto so both of us were trying to let each other to understand our Mandarin haha) that i felt obligated to buy something. So i bought a sheet mask for HK$20. I'm a sucker i know.

Green hands

Tamade, ink leaked from my pen. now i have funky green ink stains all ofver my fingers. Hardly attractive. Blah!

Frankly am bored of food. Think i shall walk to Times Square (sounds more glam than it actually is! if only it's NY Times Square! sigh) and get myself a sushi dinner.

Nothing good on TV tonight. Sianz.

Gary's watch

"G says:
whaddaya know. Mr. Chong from **** called me and apologised! he's picking it up from me at work tomorrow. i have two options; either let the local guys fit a new movement in the watch (short wait time) or have it sent back to ****in switzerland to get it serviced (long wait time). which should i opt for? "

Hmmm good customer service! I told Gary that either way, there prob isn't much difference... so what if he opts to send it back to Switzerland coz he no longer trusts the local technicians to fix his watch...hey they may just fix it locally, keep it for a longer period of time and Gary would be none the wiser whether a Swiss or a Singaporean fixed it. Well and they are picking it up from him now instead of him having to go down to get it fixed. Heh, nothing a nasty complaint letter can't do!

"Unsatisfactory Servicing of Watch"

My friend Gary has an expensive watch. It's a well renowned brand which i shan't mention in case they sue me for posting this....the watch cost 4G. Hey don't ask me, I think it just cost way too much but he got that as a graduation gift from his dad (hey how come i didn't get any watch for MY graduation? but that's another story altogether)

Told him what to write in his complaint letter to the company... using words like 'Unsatisfactory' which explains my heading and how he 'used to be a loyal customer'. Words that companies who strive for customer loyalty (i.e. fools who think $4K for a watch is totally ok... snig) Anyway his letter came as below.... i was BCCed so i can have a laugh...

Dear Sir / Madam,

My name is Gary, and I am the owner of a ****I recently brought it in for servicing, but I'm thinking I might just be better off buying a different brand altogether. For clarification and record purposes, here are the details:________

This was done on 22 June 2005. Since then, I've been back to your service centre TWICE. Firstly, the month dial of my watch was jammed (it would not change at the end of the month). I find this highly unacceptable given that this is a) a **** watch, b) it was just given a full servicing.Anyway, I brought it back, and the technician told me that the month dial is probably 'too tight' and needed adjustment.Today, I took my watch back after your technician supposedly loosened whatever was 'too tight'. And mind you, I had to CALL your service centre to ask if it was ready when it clearly stated on the chit that your staff 'will call customer to inform collection date'. But nevermind; I've got bigger fish to fry.

Upon closer inspection at home, I discovered that the font for the month dial is different from that of the day dial! This can only mean the technician decided to replace the month dial, but with one that clearly belongs to an **** of a different model! Is this acceptable? I used to be a fan of **** , but the other brands are starting to look mighty appealing right about now, mostly because I don't want to become a laughing stock when the more discerning of my friends (clearly, your technicians are not quite as discerning) realise there's something wrong and question the authenticity of my watch. It's like having the sign on your door with your first name in one font, and your last name with another. Would you find that acceptable? If your Chairman gave you his name card, and there were two different fonts in his name, would you point it out? (More on your Chairman later)

I demand serious recourse for this obvious gaffe. And no, I'm not going to make another trip to Wheelock Place. That's another thing - your opening hours are something like 9 to 5.30 from Mondays to Fridays. Have you not considered that there is a substantial fraction of the populace that can only visit the centre after office hours or during the weekends? I expect a reply with:a) an explanation of the current situation, and how and why it came about;b) a proper plan to resolve this matter that does not involve me being inconvenienced (i.e. having to make a trip to your service centres, Wheelock Place or otherwise, during office hours when I have to be at work);c) assurance that this does not happen again. If I do not hear from you in the next two working days, I will take this matter to a higher authority.Go visit your website. You'll find the words of **** Chairman on the Board. I quote - 'We want them to be happy - we want YOU to be happy.'He was referring to **** customers. That would be me. But you better hurry. I might not be for very much longer.

Gary

Ah, he was so candid. Unlike a mail i would have written. i would probably be a lot more forceful and a lot less candid coz chances are that the wit will most likely be lost on the Customer Service Officer who checks the email acct. Now i can't wait to get a reply from the watch company. He's gonna update me. sorry ah, boh liao is like that , cheap thrills lah. Speaking of watches, my Diesel watch strap broke!!! Gawddammit, right smack where it's unfixable. So i have to wear my girlie Guess one and i can't find the Swatch one which i got for free but cannot remember where it is... i tot i packed it. Sigh

Anyway i don't have much to update coz it's another day of reading and sending out emails. My former boss replied to my mass email regarding AK saying that 'you've officially crossed to the other side'. Haha hey i don't send out these emails to the affiliates for fun, i need to know what other ppl are doing so i can 'coordinate'. Sigh.

I got Star World & Channel V! I'm watching SW more obviously... good English programming without funny traditional Chinese subtitles. But ATV & Pearl (HK terresterial stations) aren't too bad. There's CSI Miami, Lost tonight. And sometimes Letterman as well.

I have GOT to make normal dinner. Am sick of rice & noodles. Just not much variety anymore.

Mommy coming this weekend with my younger sis, thankfully for just 4 days. Hope she cooks me enough food to last me for a week, then back to my own shabby cooking...

1 week in HK liao

Geez I've already spent 1 full week in HK. it actually kinda feels longer than that ... guess not having people to TALK to and go out, the whole lack of human interaction makes it kinda different. Too tired to write, will add on tmrw... zzzzzzzzz

Bad customer service

Gawd, HK has groundbreakingly bad customer service. I am supposed to get two additional channels for my broadband. And after one hour of frustrated dialing and slamming down the phone,I managed to get thru......... to a human!!!!!!!!! and the guy was polite, activiating my Star Movies & HBO which funnily enough was working on Friday nite but not on Sat morn!? and i had added on 2 additional channels in [V] and Star World and he said it will be activated after 3pm the same day.

WELL IT IS FUCKING 3PM ON A SUNDAY AND IT IS STILL NOT ACTIVATED U STUPID TWAT!

And I've been trying to dial back to customer service and now the option to talk to a human is not even there! It's like "Press 1 for English" which i dutifully did, then the ID number and then 1 for 'installation problem', press 2 for 'bad picture images' (hahahah! u imagine!) and whatever fucking options u press, there's a recorded voice telling u why it is so... but no other options for u to opt to a human being to ACTUALLY ADDRESS a PROBLEM.

So I called back the sales guy whom i signed up the package with and he didn't even get my name and all and he said he will call me back in 30 min. Okie Mr Psychic, will be waiting here... GIVE ME MY FUCKING STAR WORLD CHANNEL!!!!!

I'm damn pissed as you can tell...

Oh the guy just called back just as I hit 'publish post'. He said he will check for me and it should be up and running by 4pm. I sense my sarcasm was lost on him. Afterall they promised me yesterday it will be up *gasp* yesterday. But what to do! Sigh..

Cooking & me

Alright, hoon says that i should probably go easy on the blogging... it shows that i am bored. Ha, i actually kinda like being home, watching crappy movies on cable... it is really too crowded outside but i've decided that next week i will venture beyond causeway bay. Right now it's just Ikea & Grocery shopping....and unpacking.. and trying to read 8 FF marketing plans.

Went to the supermarket to buy stuff so i can cook myself. Even with the necessary food, i don't have the necessary utensils. I only have one saucepan which i bought so i could cook instant noodles. Had an almost nutritious meal in my lunch of instant noodles.. added enoki mushrooms, chinese mushrooms, choi sum and sausages. YUM, now i'm completely stuffed.

Have rice left over from last nite's dinner in the fridge, shall attempt to whip up something! More grocery shopping later!

BEP

Watching Letterman now and I must say I don't get Black Eyed Peas. 'Don't Lie' is quite annoying... 'no no no no baby no no no no baby don't lie' just makes up the chorus. So intelligent. 'Don't Phunk with my heart' is catchy in the way 'the Ketchup song' was but better musically. I wonder how Fergie feels ony having like 5 lines to sing in each song. Just the chorus mostly and the guys take turns to do the verses. Hey, it's like a boyband but coz they are mostly ugly, they songs are mostly decent, they are considered a decent band. hHck they even have coordinated, choreographed dancing! Hey how come nobody gives them flack! Oh yeah coz they write their own music. like that's such a big deal these days. Btw, Fergie looks good but she got ugly knee caps.

bad acting

Wow, Kate Beckinsale (or however u spell her last name) really cannot act. I'm watching Van Helsing now and she can't even cry convincingly. She's getting money for this? I can get money for this and probably be more convincing than her and I CAN'T ACT as well. She was horrible in Underworld too... so what is she good at? just those fluffy roles where she doesn't really need to do much emoting..

Living the domestic life

I swear Ikea has made so much money out of me. Good thing they aren't expensive. I swear I keep remembering things i need to buy and most of the time, it's for the house, which means Ikea has it.

I have broadband at home now! Hooray. Now to try to get terresterial TV channels, don't know if i can do it, and i'm scared to try to do it in case i jeopardize my broadband TV connection. now i'm stuck watching HBO which is showing some crappy movie starring The Rock. Great Friday night.

I keep forgetting things to get for the apartment. I happily went grocery shopping (i.e. instant noodles) but hey before u guys nag at me, i also bought fresh fruits (1 apple, 1 pear, 1 orange, 1 lemon to freshen the fridge and a buncha bananas - u know how in hollywood movies, single gals try to resist buying single items so as not to announce to the whole world i.e. the checkout counter gal that they are alone.. well for a while i was tempted to buy two of everything) and breakfast cereal & milk. Then brilliantly realise that i haven't gotten bowls that will hold my instant noodles/koko krunch. Doh. Guess which Swedish company i'll be contributing to tomorrow for these items.

What the fuck am i watching? there's The Rock, Seann William Scott and Christopher Walken?! Why is he in the same movie as those two jokers? I don't know what I'm watching. I need AXN. Then again it's Friday night and everybody's out with friends except me. I have a friend in the laptop, the TV and a Heineken.

Yay Friday!

Gosh there's a heck a lot of emails, artistes updates and collation of information on Excel spreadsheets to be done. KNN some ppl just dun respond to emails... they dun deserve a computer. Tsk.

Anyway, my boxes came in! Now i have all my clothes, bags, shoes with me... and no place to put my books, and nothing to play my CDs with. Gah. Need to unpack and buy the relevant furniture so it looks like a proper apartment.

Btw, can you believe they will sell you a television set WITHOUT the cables? just the electrical plug... what a stupid fuck i swear. Need to go buy the coaxial cable so i can watch terresterial without interference (*gasp* less of a tech bimbo now am I not! haha)

Broadband TV & internet coming tonight! Hooray! I've got the weekend lined up for me, as Eric Carmen would put it "all by myself". Yay (not)

All this paperwork is a right pain in the arse. Tamade. Need to send emails out

My mom couldn't figure out how to call me. She's been trying to call my apartment that has no phone hooked up to it. Duh. So i just bought the cheapest possible telephone i can find.. and at HK$99 it's hardly high up the trendy stakes. But hey!!! It comes with the relevant cables which is more than i can say for the HK$2000 TV.

Gonna go buy the coaxial cable.
Once I get hooked up to the internet tonight, more updates will follow.
Toodles!

You know why I hate public transport?

Bloody people reading bloody NEWSPAPERS in the bloody trains!!!!!!
Gawd thankfully it's just two stops, coz I seriously feel sick standing there inhaling the poisonous fumes of newspapers. Actually the Hongky newspapers don't smell that bad, I am guessing coz they use more colour ink and those dun smell as bad as the B&W ones that TNP/ST use. But still I feel sick smelling all that newspapers. It just smells like really bad B.O. to me.

nothing much.. really

Everyone's out for lunch at 2pm. It's just too mad to go any other time. I thought we needed to finish the damn report for NY so i bought in. Damn Hongky food is so salty, I think Merv will be the only one who can truly enjoy it.

Can't get my head around what i'm supposed to be doing.
i've read the mails, jotted down the notes and simply do not know where to begin.
I know i'm like a newbie so it's okay but i'm not exactly that new!
just wanted to rant a bit, back to the crunch.

I feel like a real grown up!

Yeah, spent the first night in the new apartment by myself last night. It was okay, it wasn't too dark, wasn't too creepy coz lights from the streets & opposite buildings were shining in so it wasn't so dark. whole house still smells Ikea-ish though, must be all that wood.

I thank Hoon, Elena, Serene, SJ & the rest of the gang for the super thoughtful present of the portable travel sound machine for my Creative mp3 player. The house would have been so quiet last night without it.... anyway TV coming this afternoon! (YAY!) I think I can live with terresterial TV for one night, coz broadband TV and internet are coming tomorrow night! YAY! Unfortunately there isn't AXN (it's only available on satellite tv, ptui! No CSI marathons for me sigh) But my broadband speed is 8MB and apparently that's fast? Only problem is I have this one comp which i have to lug to & fro work and home and it doesn't have a strap, i have to carry it in front of me, doh.

Okie, everyone's hard at work except me now so shall go read artistes updates and figure out what to do next. Apparently a report for NY. Woohoo! (not)
